  1. Oh man, that one hit some feels. I had some sudden allergies watching that. Remember the Titans music will never not get me. Bertier looks like your typical 35 year old High School MLB.
  2. leaked photo: PTR evidently didn't get as much for the last out ball as he thought he'd get.
  3. Who did Meph come back as?
  4. Likeliest Cubs to be dealt this off season...... 10. Miguel Montero-10% shot of being dealt. Very doubtful, but I guess the comments at least get him a mention. But he's a great fit next year and is excellent insurance to Willy. 9. Albert Almora- 15% shot of being dealt. If we keep Dex, this guy gets moved up the list a bit. I don't see him being moved though, because he seems like a guy that has more value to us, than he would thru trade. 8. Hector Rondon- 25% of being dealt. If we get a chance to sell decently here, my guess is we take it. Teams need pen help, wouldn't shock me to see a desperate team give us something decent. 7. Matt Szczur- 30% of being dealt. He's kind of redundant. Decent player, but if Dex comes back, it makes it hard to see him on the 25 man without injuries or another trade. Could see a one for one that nets us a middle innings guy 6. Mark Zagunis- 40% of being dealt. Don't see him ever having a spot here, but is in the upper levels, and can hit. My thought is he's a second or third piece to any deal for a solid player that involves an AL team 5. Seal Boy- 45% of being dealt. If he's out of his "I'll retire if I get traded" crap, then this guy seems like a goner to me. Again, he provides a decent bat, so if he's here, he'd still help us. But my guess is the FO is pissed as horsefeathers at his horsefeathers. 4. Jason Hammel- 50% of being dealt.I can easily see him getting dealt, as his contract is a bargain in this market. Maybe to Atlanta or some other team that's trying to be respectable in 2017 and doesn't want to go 3-4 years on the Ivan Novas of the world.....Could see this happening this week actually at GM Meetings. 3.Jorge Soler- 60% of being dealt. The defense and injuries have zapped value here. But if there's a team that still sees a middle of the order bat, he could be dealt for pitching. 2. Jeimer Candelario- 70% of being dealt. He's the likeliest guy to move for pitching, since he's blocked, ready, and hasn't lost any value yet. If they trade Soler, it'd be interesting to see if they give Candelario a shot on the corner OF spots. 1. Christian Villanueva-90% of being dealt. He's healthy. He's blocked. He's out of options. He's supposedly looking pretty good. This is a spring training roster shuffle type move waiting to happen.
  5. pretty sure it was a joke... why the hell would he need ABs against the AFL when he's squaring up balls the horsefeathering world series? Bender Theo should announce he is sending him and Montero down there just for the lolz. Bender Theo is Schwarbs' wingman.
  6. They came back and sang Go Cubs Go in a segment. With Bill Murray.
  7. Re: Gurriel... Given our recent success with developing ML hitters... I wonder if that gives us any advantage signing the higher-end Intl free agents. Even if they're blocked, someone will get hurt, moved or tail off somewhere at some point. We're a premiere destination right now. The youngsters see how well our youngsters have developed, so that HAS to be a selling point on some level. And while we no longer have the allure of "Hey, come help us end the curse" anymore, now we've got "you want a ring, we're the best chance for you" card to play. On top of playing at a historic stadium, for an awesome manager, and all the other selling points we've got now lol.
  8. Theo brushing back Clark was the best non baseball move thing Theo's ever done.
  9. My off season wish list would be to keep Dex at 4/64. Trade Soler for Colome. Trade Candelario for Wisler. Move Hammel for whatever the best pen arm you can get for him. Sign Greg Holland. Sign the Gourriel kid, if he's looking good. Payroll stays in a safe range for the arb raises that'll hit in a couple years. Still gives us flexibility and even keeps our picks and adds to the farm a bit. Gourriel may be a stretch, since he'd see youngsters playing ahead of him already at the ML level.
  10. I'd give it to him probably, if that's what it took to keep him. Hell, front load it, take advantage of the kids still costing the minimum. It'd make it slightly easier to unload him in the latter part of it too. I like Almora. I don't think he's ready for a 600PA season. If we do lose Dex, I hope we find someone that can play CF in a pinch...... Yes, Heyward can play CF. But he's much more of an asset in RF defensively. Realistically, it wouldn't shock me if 2017 Almora/Heyward play to about the same offensive numbers as 2016 Dex/Heyward. All that'd take is Heyward coming close to being his pre-2016 self and Almora being no worse than Heyward this year. At any rate, we have a strong OF defense if its got Heyward in RF. If he's in CF and being flanked by 2 of Soler, Schwarber, or Zobrist, the D takes a hit for sure. If Dex leaves, I hope we use Almora half the time or so in CF, with Heyward getting the other games there. That'd at least help get Soler some AB's, if he's still here.
  11. The World Series ended perfectly, because Chapman wasn't on the mound. Give me Jansen over Chapman 10 times out of 10. I dgaf about losing a draft pick. That said, I'll be a bit surprised if they give a closer big money. Maybe they've changed their stance, but my guess is we don't wind up with one of the big name FA guys, but a guy like Colome.....
  12. The camera work on the Javy HR was particularly awesome. Has this been posted anywhere yet? It was excellent.

  15. I just keep jumping from thread to thread and have yet to actually read thru THIS one yet, since its so long. Plus, I want to just soak this one in.
  16. No. We obviously don't even need him. But mainly, it depletes the ridiculous depth we have and makes injuries much harder for us to handle. I love Trout, but we are better off standing pat on our depth, as far as I'm concerned. Clearly he was serious. horsefeathers, my sarcasm meter must be shot.

  18. I really want Dex back. But I can see him getting 4 or 5 year offers in this market. So, I'm prepared for him to leave, because I doubt we're interested in that type of commitment. I'd give it to him, but I can see why the FO may not want to. If he's gone.....DEX YOU ARE AWESOME
  19. I suspect Jed takes Theo's spot in 5 years and Jason takes Jed's spot. There's not but a select few openings per year and there's plenty of candidates. I bet they are here for quite a while.
  20. [tweet]https://twitter.com/SInow/status/794178829648596992[/tweet] I'm getting emotional at lots of things today. Including this. Apologies if its elsewhere, but its awesome, so horsefeathers it
  21. I think that thing they accomplished......Might be a pretty big deal. And I THINK, there's a relatively solid shot they'll be better than 9 over next year. And for the foreseeable future. But mainly, they did that cool thing. Respect though. Solid effort for this early in the morning in a situation you're happy as hell.
  22. 25.2 overnight rating. Game 7 between SF/KC in 2014 was a 15.2. Cavs/GS game 7 was an 18.9.....
