  1. [tweet] [/tweet] Glad we don't need to learn to spell his name.
  2. We need an Arrieta replacement. I guess its possible we're in on Hill. But that's a band aid move anyway. I guess this makes it slightly more likely we give up what it takes for Archer?

  4. True. DL goes from 15 day to 10, as well.
  5. I'm hopeful that there's trading allowed to get more IFA money. In fact, I'm hopeful we'll see trading of draft picks.
  6. Its 20 mill. Any team that offers that will have the ability to negotiate with him.

  9. Plus, it'll be hard for Heyward to suck as bad as last year. Add in that our youngsters conceivably should continue to improve and our offense will be better than last year, even with losing Dex.
  10. So, Levine asked in a tweet if we're looking at Hudson as a starter or as a reliever. With his injury history, is it even worth trying him as a starter at this point?
  11. Yeah, we're in a great spot. I'm not complaining about whether payroll equals or exceeds last years. Its about filling holes. If we didn't make a single move the entire off season, we'd be easy favorites to win the division. Could even potentially be projected as the best team in the NL without making a single move. As it is, we've got a need for a cost controlled starting pitcher and a few pen arms. I doubt we spend huge money on a bullpen piece and since there's plenty of ways to fill that, its not a necessity. Just make sure we have enough to get Otani or someone next year, when we need to fill a TOR SP.
  12. I don't think we're spending on a closer, so my guess is we spend between 10-15 mill on a pair of relievers and add a cost controlled SP thats making under 5 mill. I doubt we even hit last seasons total for the beginning of the season.
  13. My guess is we go 13/13. C Contreras Montero 1B Rizzo 2B Baez Seal Boy SS Russell 3B Bryant LF Schwarber Szczur CF Jay Almora RF Heyward Zobrist If we don't trade Soler, then I guess there's a solid chance Almora starts in Iowa. Zobrist will get plenty of 2B starts. Probably 60-80 games there, but I figure Javy will edge him out in starts. I really think Soler and Candelario get moved though. And we'll obviously have a few NRI types that may be the 13th position guy, if we have an injury or two early on.....
  14. OH AND THANK YOU DEX. YOU ARE THE MAN. WISH YOU THE BEST. It'd be great if you stay away from the Cards though. You deserve better and I want you to find an actual contender to p!ay for.
  15. Almora insurance and likely platoon partner. No reason to doubt what the FO says. This is the guy we're bringing in to help transition Almora into a fulltime guy in 2018. Glad we kept him to a one year deal.
  16. [tweet] [/tweet] Guess we'll have to mystery team the horsefeathers out of this one, if we want Hill.
  17. consider me "not scared of the Mets" I'm scared one of their pitchers arms flies off and potentially makes a Cubs p!ayer make a slightly awkward movement to avoid getting elbowed in the face.
  18. If theres anything to this, it just reemphasizes how unlikely it is we keep Jake after 2017. In a way, its LIKE keeping him 2 more years past that. Which would be great.
  19. I know nothing about SportsMockery. I'll guess that a deal involving those guys is a 3 team trade. My question is who has more value? 34 year old Verlander on a 3/84 deal or Jake on his last pre arb year? I'd say its probably close.
  20. Edwards and Colome? Sure, I can see that. But, I'm an Almora fan. And in no way, shape, or form do I think he's giving us 13 WAR in any 3 year period, like Kiermaier just has done. They'd want, rightfully so, much more than Almora for him. Oh, on field value, if Almora ever gets those WAR numbers, I'd be surprised. I'm more thinking from the "our franchise has no money" perspective, but, yeah, that's probably still not enough value for Kiermaier. Yeah, I get what you're saying. The Rays ARE a sad franchise. I honestly doubt we're even really interested in Kiermaier, tbh. I doubt his D is AS valuable at Wrigley as it is in some other places.
