  1. Goony is 100% right. Whatever happened, it wound up working. No need to apologize, unless he was trying to put Aroldis under the knife, in which case, he failed and deserves scorn.
  2. Maddon admitted to getting caught off guard with Rizzo's homer. That's as close to an apology as we'll get.
  3. Is there any way to start a package for Graveman and Doolittle with Happ? Beane is a quantity guy sometimes, but I'm not sure I see a fit. Nor do I know where he'd value either of those guys. But I'd be hard pressed to find a team that fits us better for a lefty reliever AND a decent starter than the A's.....Just not sure they'd want what we've got to send back.....
  4. Most of us aren't season ticket holders. So we don't have that right.
  5. I'll call him Brian when he's gotten a few lefties out.
  6. Mike Dunn 3 years, 19 mill Career vs lefties .224/.309/.330 Jerry Blevins Career vs lefties .207/.266/.322 Boone Logan Career vs lefties .228/.308/.361 Mike Duensing- 1 year, 2 mill Career vs lefties .232/.286/.328 Our FO is good.....
  7. Mine hasnt changed since an email I got on March 23; 18,902. Congrats! I believe, based on this thread, at least, you have moved up a spot!
  8. Appel was shut down with shoulder issues, then had bone spurs removed from his elbow. Sad story. But unless he's basically free, there's no reason to bother with him.
  9. Adding Blevins at this point, would make the pen pretty ridiculous. It kind of is already.
  10. 28 of the top 50 are pitchers, 15 are college guys. Considering the drafts strength is supposed to be college arms, I could see us using both our 1st and comp pick on pitching this year.
  11. Reed has been awful, gained weight, and has all kinds of questions at this point. His value has taken a hit. Musgrove, for as much as I like him......Kind of shocked a few here think he's so valuable. For all of the horsefeathers pitching on here, Musgrove has literally missed time EVERY year he's been a pro(2011) up until 2016. He's currently their 6th starter and their trying to add one more. For what the Astros are doing(going big RIGHT NOW) Odorizzi is more of a known quantity, the Astros would be dealing from depth, in adding a solid guy with control and not having to deal Martes, who they love. He's very likely to put up more value than Musgrove over the next two years. The Astros have already balked at the high prices on Archer and Quintana. And Sale, for that matter. They are really trying to add a starter, Odorizzi is about the closest thing left to something decent. And Tampa is still going to want a big haul for him. I thought about adding Oscar De La Cruz in on our side, going to Tampa, and Boxberger going to Houston, but left it smaller, because a top 50ish type in Happ, and a plug and play 1B, with some issues, seems like fair value in THIS market for a solid mid rotation type with a few years of control. Gives Tampa the hitting they're looking for, us the young, cost controlled guy with options, and Houston more of a sure thing in the middle of their rotation in their push. Perfect? Of course not. Best I can do on trying to get us Musgrove though.

  13. [tweet]https://twitter.com/CarrieMuskat/status/808500801828220934[/tweet] Our team is kind of perfect.
  14. Not yet. I think he's in Japan currently and needs to take a physical once he gets back.
  15. Personally, I wouldn't help the Dodgers out of a mistake.
  16. I'm not sure if there's a reasonable path to resetting next year. With Jansen and Turner they've got about 180 million committed for 10 players, plus Grandal's arb 3 and Pederson's arb 1 likely bring them really close to the threshold alone. They could pay a team in prospects to take McCarthy, Gonzalez, or Kazmir, but even then you're still dealing with largely the same players and not having any ability to improve the team for an entire offseason. That's the point. They'll sit out next offseason. Probably still make the playoffs. But the roster next year will be the guys they're already paying, plus a bunch of minimum salary guys. Any other acquisitions are dependent on how much money they can save on their dead weight deals of Gonzalez, McCarthy, Kazmir, Ryu, possibly Puig.....But saving even half on McCarthy, Kazmir, and Gonzalez gives them 25 mill to fill in some roster spots.
  17. The Dodgers will reset next year, so they can go after Bryce, Machado, CK in 2019. The key will be trying to save money on Kazmir and McCarthy. They could get out from under some of Gonzalez' last year too and go with Bellinger at that point. Its a calculated move to do everything they can again this year, to win in CK's prime, before stepping back a bit for a year to reset the LT.
  18. Jeff Fisher. Extended two weeks ago. Fired just now. LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL
  19. When Turner is official, they'll probably pass us in projected wins. Their depth is ridiculous and I figure they'll trade for Dozier and add another good pen arm too.
  20. I added a few from that group. I had Jaye on the list, just forgot him. Newcombe, Beede, even Appel, I left off because I just don't see their teams selling remotely low. Crick and Stanek seem more like pen arms to me, so I stayed off them. Kuhl is good, but left him off because inter divisional and he's in their rotation currently. A couple had just got dealt, so I didn't list them again and a couple seemed a bit further away than what we'd look for in rotation depth immediately, even if they're very interesting arms otherwise. But I did add Pivetta, Morimando, and Kaminsky(with Jaye). Am definitely sure there's more out there too that'd fit my criteria that may or may not be too picky to begin with lol. Based on what I've read, the Braves are still super high on Newcomb. My guess is he'd be more expensive than Wisler. And he's still maybe a top 100 anyway on some lists.....
  21. I don't think he could net Wisler. With their need for bats and their abundance of arms, I could see Candelario and Zagunis getting it done. Happ alone would do it(if not, then wow)and net us a secondary low level guy you could dream on. I do think Candelario would net Blair on his own.
  22. Updated the original post, after looking thru mlbdepthcharts. May have doubled the names. Tried staying away from top 100 prospects.
  23. With Soler gone, Candelario is both blocked and has value. He's who I have tunnel vision on, to bring us a 6th SP, with some potential upside for a bit more. Realistically, he's probably a 75-150 ranked prospect. Not exciting, a second division starter type, or a cheap guy for a team trying to skimp at a position, where they're spending elsewhere.....Still, he's able to net us something of some semblance of interest and to find us a guy that can take some starts this year and compete for a future rotation spot. The cool thing is he's basically ready for a trial run, so that could even help us find him a team.....Teams with a 3B need now, or extremely soon..... Rangers- Beltre can't play forever. Gallo may or may not be their future there. Rays- It'd signal they're readying to trade Longo, but that seems to be a possibility. Royals- Moustakas hits FA next year, I think? If not, its very soon. Phillies- Franco moves over to 1B in this scenario. Pirates- Kang doesn't seem like he's a viable answer obviously. Yankees- Candelario fits them very well actually. Marlins- Prado just resigned, but he's a multi position guy. A's- If they're not Matt Chapman fans, he's a nice fit. Padres- They've got guys they can move around, but he'd still fit them. Dodgers- No, they're not settling for Candelario. Can't see Turner leaving them. Giants- Nunez may be enough to keep their interest minimal. Angels- need? Yes. Fit? Probably not. Mets- Wright and Reyes? Candelario should be of interest to them. Braves- Stick out like a sore thumb. So, lots of teams can conceivably use him. He's coming off an excellent partial AAA season. We need a 6th SP(or more). His value may never be higher.....Here's the 5 best fits, in my mind..... 1. Braves 2. Royals 3. Yankees 4. Mets 5. Phillies
  24. I want Cease to dominate this year. If he does, he'll miraculously jump to being a top 20 prospect. At which point, we can trade him for something good to any of the 29 village idiot teams that value young pitching.
  25. Clifton is top 100 for BP and Law. Probably for BA, too, based on his Carolina League top 20 ranking. Based on proximity, i could see myself putting him 3rd, ahead of Cease. Definitely no lower than 5th, behind Cease and Candelario.
