  1. Mike Glennon also sucks. Oh as does Jay Cutler, who you need to seriously get over trying to keep as a thing. I'm not advocating keeping Jay. But he's on a contract that allows for him to be cut at any point with no true cap hit. That alone has value for us right now. Especially if you don't think one of these QBs is worth the 3rd pick. It doesn't make any sense that you don't want to take a flyer on a QB later, where you site wanting to find a guy that can play. Yet, are willing to reach on one at 3, where its obvious none of them are BPA at THAT spot, nor know for sure(even remotely) that any of THIS group is an actual franchise type. Plus, as has been mentioned, its highly unlikely that the Pace/Fox tandem take one at 3, since its unlikely they'll be of much impact in a very important season for each of them. A later pick allows POSSIBLE development, and flexibility moving forward to using another much higher pick on one.
  2. Wouldn't think twice about saying yes. I wouldn't even consider that move. Pats produced system type? No confidence it translates elsewhere, I guess? I have gone round and round trying to figure out my ideal 2017 QB situation.... 1. Sign Taylor and take a developmental guy in the 3rd or 4th 2. Get Garoppolo for a 2nd.(Have this over option 3 strictly because he can play immediately) 3. Resign Hoyer, get Trubisky, Kizer, or Mahomes at 36.(Watson too, but truly think he's safely off the board) 4. Trade down in the 1st, to 10-15 range, accumulate picks, and still get 1 of those 4 QBs, at that spot. 5. Sign Romo, after he's been cut. Draft a guy in the 3rd or 4th.
  3. Torres is an excellent prospect. Is he top 5? Top 10? Definitely possible. Its a weaker top end than it has been. Swanson is ranked this high.....I honestly see more upside with Torres. Even if Swanson still has a much higher floor(though Torres' is relatively high now, for his age) Weaker group of prospects, maybe a bit of "Holy horsefeathers, we can actually say good things about the Yankees", I can see why he's this high. I'm pretty sure Starlin was a top 15-20 guy, at the same point. And I think Torres is a better prospect than he was. So its relatively in line for me.
  4. If the Pats offer you Garoppolo straight up for pick 36, do you take it? There's differing opinions on what his value is, but I think I'd take this and be happy.

  6. I'd love to take a shot on him, but he's out of options. Seems much more of a fit with a rebuilding team. I'm sure he'll get claimed. I'm not sure if we'd make a trade for a guy that very likely isn't making the squad and that we then have to DFA again..... All it took on Overton, was the M's 2016 9th round pick. That was a missed opportunity for depth. This one, I'd love to take a chance with. But I have my doubts this is the type of move this FO makes.
  7. Mayock says Trubisky is going to measure out at 6'1, instead of 6'3. Its not going to shock me if he's there at or near our 2nd rounder......
  8. Being good and leading are two separate things. I know Rondo is doing this to get exiled, but he IS correct.
  9. I want the Bulls to have their own Royal Rumble. Fun bad time.
  10. Damn, looks like the Mariners already are trading for Overton. Wish we had found a way to snag him.
  11. This ship has horsefeathering sunk. Wade ain't gonna stick around for this horsefeathers show. He wants to actually win. There's no way you're keeping him here. Jimmy is awesome. You're also not anywhere near close to winning with him. This FO and Hoiberg need to go. I don't think Reinsdorf will rebuild it like that. And yeah, letting THIS group of idiots even attempt a rebuild IS a bad idea.....Its still got a better shot at eventually contending again, than these guys keeping Wade AND piecing together parts that are good enough to get past the 1st round, especially with Wade declining. Sell high on Jimmy, get what you can for Wade, and anything else that someone may actually want. Hell, give horsefeathering Hoiberg the the athletes and the shooters he wants and let him at least fall flat on his face trying to use his own horsefeathers. The Cubs just won the damn Series. I'm fine with serious shittiness out of the Bears and Bulls.
  12. And.........An L. Blow it the horsefeathers up.
  13. Yeah, he's got options. They evidently think he's the worst guy on their 40 man. Or think they can get something borderline interesting for him back.
  14. It's a 10 day DL now. We can throw guys on there for "fatigue".Teams are going to manipulate the horsefeathers out of it now. Its why we've built so much depth for the pen, in my opinion. I seriously think we are just going to constantly have a guy or two on it(if we're actually healthy), and keep everyone fresh that way. In fact, I expect us running a 6 man rotation, does NOT involve us pitching on 5 days rest, but skipping a different starter each time thru the rotation, so to keep them in their regular routines of pitching every 5th day.
  15. Carlos Frias and Dillon Overton each got DFA'd today. Frias, a Dodger, is a righty that throws pretty hard and looked pretty decent when I have seen him pitch. He's an ideal swing type to add, if possible. But, the Dodgers did just DFA him and he missed the last half of 2016 with an "undisclosed" injury. Still, I'd figure we check in. If he's ready for 2017, he'd be a smart, under the radar pickup. Overton, from the A's, literally had one of the worst stints in the majors, that I've seen in quite a while. He's a lefty, more of a pitchibility guy. But he has some velo that he forgot to regain, back from his elbow surgery a few years back. With a tweak or two in his lower half, some think he should still regain it. At any rate, he has excellent control, and is a very solid flyer to add, at this point. Again, these are flyers, just cheap, depth types that we're still hunting for. Our 40 man will be at 40, with the Anderson signing. To be honest, we're not THAT flexible either. We could obviously DFA Rollins for the 29th time this off season. But, outside of him, I'd say Brooks and Buchanan are the only 2 guys left that seem to be DFA'able at the moment.
  16. He's got some things to work with. He's not major league ready. Its doubtful he's a top 100 talent. But I'm interesting to see what he's thought of, by the evaluators. Solid low to mid 90's FB. Decent curve, his change is improving. Supposedly, he's much better at throwing strikes now, than he was a couple years ago. Is looked at as a starter now, when before he was kind of thought of as more of a setup type. The fact we can spread his money out over 6 years is nice, he wouldn't take up a lot of salary space. We certainly want to add to our young pitching. Obviously, we'll look into him.
  17. If we really like the rule 5 guy, they'll find a way to hide him. The 10 Day DL is going to make roster management more of a skill than a necessity. Like the Anderson move. Even if its unlikely he gives us more than 10 starts. I seriously doubt we make a move for another guy that is a definite rotation piece. But I do think we'll add another guy or two that has at least started a few games in the majors. And maybe Candelario has a great spring and you can turn him into a dude that's a upper level minor leaguer, with some semblance of potential. If not, we should be able to get to midseason and reassess what kind of pitching we need to add.
  18. Seal Boy and Zagunis for Andriese.
  19. I wouldn't mind bringing in a lefty, but we have some serious depth in the pen..... Wade Davis, Hector Rondon, Pedro Strop, Carl Edwards Jr, Koji Uehara, Justin Grimm, Brian Duensing, Caleb Smith-Current Group? Felix Pena, Jose Rosario, Corey Black, Fernando Rodriguez, Jim Henderson, Dylan Floro, David Rollins, Jack Leathersich, Pierce Johnson Plus, you've conceivably got Montgomery and Zastryzny, if you find a few starters somehow.
  20. Makes sense. The Buls are a dead franchise. Might as well sign a player who truly could take that term to a new level.

  22. They don't have to be aces, a person who I was convinced could throw 100IP of sub 5.00ERA ball would be nice. Those guys get guaranteed major league deals. They also may want to actually head into the year slotted in as the 5th, or at least truly in competition for a rotation spot coming out of spring. They don't get that option here. We'll sign a guy to a ML deal still and that bumps Zastryzny down to 7. My guess is he moves to 8 before we get to spring. I'll be happy if we sign Kelly. We've probably got as much info on him than anyone and I'd be hopeful we see some tweaks that can turn him into a contributor of some sort.
  23. I'm all about making fun of the Orioles. But HOW is getting a 5 year younger Trumbo, who hit 47 homers AND keeping your 1st Rounder, a worse idea than signing a declining Bautista, at 36 and losing your 1st rounder in the process? 3/37.5 isn't remotely a bad contract.
