  2. Demps is no miracle!
  3. That's awesome. Of course, there are fewer seats for sale. The 5,000 bleacher seats are off the table.
  4. Did they forget about Fowler?
  5. Also, you're welcome: http://home.comcast.net/~bcvm22/cubs/6292007.mp3 http://m.mlb.com/video/?content_id=20079103&topic_id=6479266

  7. Personal hero. If he stays on the Brewers, his last game will be in Milwaukee vs. the Cubs on Sunday 10/4 with the outside chance that one or both teams would need the game for the playoffs. That would be cool. I'm sure plenty of meatballs would boo. No hustle, no passion.
  8. Aramis is apparently retiring after this season. An all-time favorite for me.

  10. We're also talking about moving a perennial All-Star and the longest-tenured player in his organization off of his natural position for a prospect. Not that it outright prevents Russell from becoming the SS with Castro on the team, but it's not something that happens often.
  11. Well, it's not accidental. Then why bother with the paywall at all? There's an absurd amount of traffic that they'd be missing out on from Google News users and regular people using Google and searching for topics around the world.
  12. This is the most fun I've had in a few years.
  13. Can't read the link. Google the title of the article and click in from the results.
  14. That was an unexpectedly intense game.
  15. It had me until this: I won't fault the guy for wanting to document an historic moment (and to draw attention to what he was doing for multiple reasons), but it certainly wasn't an attempt to minimize media attention. I think there is a before/after viewpoint here. After the "frenzy" that moment caused he withheld from the media more. That I can agree with. It really makes me wonder about the conversations going on in locker rooms and front offices: it's hard to know where the negativity is coming from -- or it it differs by organization. There are a ton of marketing opportunities to be had for a franchise that employs Sam, but based on conversations that I've had, football and business ops are very siloed in most orgs.

  17. I would lose my [expletive] if we landed Yu.
  18. Yes. Several hundred thousand dollars were donated to the JRW program. I'm pretty damn sure it's not going to all be spent on new batting cages and uniforms. Sure, but I'd imagine the donors had stipulations around their donations, right? People were donating money to pay the coaches? I'm not sure what kind of oversight is involved with little league, but irrespective of any cheating that would feel... illegal.
  19. Did those behind this cheating scheme even get anything other than notoriety from the win? Were they paid out? Did they get better jobs? The whole thing seems really stupid.
  20. He really pulverized a strawman when he said that talent is more important than analytics. Also, asking "What analytics did the Miami Heat have? What analytics did the Chicago Bulls have? What analytics do the Spurs have?" is so unbelievably silly. I'm guessing the Spurs have a lot.
  21. Not that they are to blame, but I have a hard time believing that bunch of 11 to 13 year olds from the burbs had no idea that they weren't supposed to be playing on a city team. They're not the responsible party but they're also not stupid.
  22. Live a little.
  23. They're desperate to be satisfied by someone who knows that they're doing.
  24. I've never understood why people think this is a good scenario to plant in people's minds. Our rookie rightfielder, a homosexual rapist. Yay? Anyway, predicting ASG selections for Lester, Arrieta, Rizzo, Castro, Fowler and Soler. The other teams are female and it's consensual intercourse.
  25. Unless something changes, Justin Upton will be in RF, Wil Myers will be in CF and Shawn Kemp will be in LF. Then they still have Quentin, Venable and Maybin as backups. Is there anyone Shawn Kemp won't do?
