  2. One of those rings is probably a ~$20k value, not to mention the high resale value of a Cubs ring, so we could probably sell him on that.
  3. As only he can. #HugeTits What's this? http://bit.ly/1ujjm5w Hey let's be fair with the lmgtfy. I think a lot of people are going to hesitate to google #hugetits Yep.
  4. Fair.
  5. But he will be apart.
  6. pecota has sucked since Nate left. Interesting, Wyers was essentially saying that it had to be rebuilt from scratch based on how poor of a job Silver did constructing it. If he still posts here I'd love to here his thoughts. Here's the link I'm referring to.
  7. He has been for several years.
  8. It's no less deserved than any other announcers status as a legend. He's known throughout the country in a job that is typically only seen by a comparatively small local market. It's not just Cubs fans that elevate him. An announcer can have legend status due to say, talent (e.g., Harwell, Keith Jackson). Harry's notoriety -- especially nationally -- is based on his shtick (acting and/or being drunk, mispronouncing names) and caricature-like appearance, not his skill as a broadcaster. Hell, a lot of Cubs fans probably don't even know he used to be the Cardinals guy.
  9. I don't hate him but he's not on the level of Santo or Banks for Christ's sake. He was a talented guy who got by on talent early in life. By the time he was working for the Cubs he was already reliant on gimmicks and shticks, none of which added much value. I had a chance to meet him a few times in my childhood and he was always friendly and engaging, and I'm sure he loved his job and the teams he covered. However, his legend status among Cubs fans is far larger than deserved, imo.
  10. Not until Tavaras is added.
  11. They haven't plowed over enough backwaters as long as St. Louis still exists.
  12. http://m.mlb.com/video/topic/7417714/v37183025/mlb-network-looks-back-at-rizzos-path-to-stardom/?mlbtax=vtp_mlb_network Watched it last night... last 40 minutes was all Cubs stuff - Maddon doing psychotherapy sessions for every Cubs fan he meets - 2 callers on a crappy radio talk show after Maddon was hired are representative of all Cubs fans being negative - Surprised TheoJed didn't hire him with the Red Sox when they had the chance - Lots of Rays fans saying "Good luck" at Maddon's hipster restaurant in Tampa and how they'd have to be Cubs fans again - Rizzo gets his tiny face from his Dad - Rizzo's family is pretty stereotypical, Italian-Americans, talking about going to the "Jersey Shore". Mom and Dad could be on the Sopranos. - The story about Rizzo/Lester being cancer bros - Some college-age cancer dude crying about how Rizzo hit "2 home runs for him" and blew him kisses after the HRs. I know it's to be expected from a guy named Anthony Rizzo, but it was pretty hilarious to see.
  13. From the looks of it, cutting carbs.
  14. It's also a block from Historic House Where Snoodmonger Grew Up. I must have missed the plaque. If you ever go to Nevin's, look for the plaque that says "Snoodmonger used to be a 'bouncer' here." Haha that place was always extremely strict on IDs. You have a discerning eye. 15. Welsh-Ryan is in the middle of a neighborhood, so there aren't really a lot of fun drinking options within walking distance. With that said, you have a few choices: If parking or taking Metra to Central: + Bluestone + Ten Mile House (haven't been -- just opened but supposedly good) Parking isn't that bad for non-football events. It's inexpensive to pay at the stadium and you can usually find a way to park for free in the neighborhood (Evanston side, south of central). If you get there late you may have to park west of Green Bay. There are long-term parking meters near the Central Metra station and if you get lucky you can use them. I'd honestly recommend taking the L if you can, stopping at Davis, having a few beers, and then heading to Central on the L (or even Ubering if you are so inclined). By approx. distance from L/Metra at Davis: + World of Beer + Bat 17 + Bar Louie + Bangers and Lace + JT's + Prairie Moon + Nevin's I'll be driving down from MKE so the L wouldn't be an option. I'll probably find parking and try out Ten Mile House or Bluestone so I can have a couple and not have to worry about finding parking right before the game. Is Bluestone more restaurant than bar? Thanks for the info! Ah, gotcha. Bluestone is a casual bar and grill with a bit of a sports flair given where it is. There is a separate bar area, too. Food is about what you'd expect from a bar and grill: not something you'd seek out but solid nonetheless. It's also a block from Historic House Where Snoodmonger Grew Up.
