I mean, sure. I'd prefer, I don't know, Scottie Pippen or something. But it's not random that he's there. Dempster's inclusion is pretty random. Dempster is a former Cub who had a long (and very nice) career here and he's still involved with the organization. He's goofy but there's nothing strange about his involvement. I guess I didn't realize that he still was affiliated with the team. I don't have a problem with Dempster... it's just a huge game involving a fan favorite like Wood and a HOFer like Billy. Dempster is neither so it's just kinda weird to me.

Ditka is at least a champion coach, NFL HOFer and undeniable Chicago personality. Dempster had a pretty good career with the Cubs but it's kind of a "but why" type thing. There are plenty of other past players I'd rather see, especially for a huge game. Ditka is an ignorant piece of horsefeathers racist. I mean, sure. It's got to be damn near impossible to avoid hearing an update at a big concert in Chicago with today's technology. you're probably right. i was just hoping that with the concert going on, there's not much for me to overhear, and then I'd just try making a bee line for my car going LALALA with my ears covered.
