  1. Funny to think of Hendry signing someone incapable of catching the ball
  2. I think there is one about how high on grass you can be but I'm not sure about how high the grass should be. I think it's up to each team but it does make sense that it couldn't be higher than X. That's what I was thinking. Or maybe it's just an unwritten rule that has never really come up.
  3. Different products from each of the 3 I'd guess. Shoes from Nike, Futbols from Adidas, and apparel from Puma. That's just a guess. And I would imagine that since one company wouldn't want to make a 100% funding commitment, the co-funding would end up being quite beneficial.
  4. Are there any official rules regarding how high a park's grass can be?
  5. It's not a bad plan, but I would worry about the staff. I would imagine the bullpen would be really shaky and I don't know if Hill and Marmol will be able to handle the entire season. Of course, if Z and Schmidt pitch like they should, and Prior stays healthy, they might be able to carry the rotation. I like the trade for Freel as well. He's been one of my favorites for some time. Abreu trade I'm on the fence about, mainly because he's getting older and I'm not willing to give up on Aramis. (Or maybe I'm just in denial that he's starting a decline). I wouldn't mind seeing a platoon of Jones with Murton and us shooting for Lee. Also, what do you think about Pie and when/where he will end up playing? Of course, we would not have much to lose after 2006 and that team would be no worse than this year's team, especially when considering an entirely new coaching staff. Particularly funny was picturing Maddux taking orders from his older brother in Mil.
  6. Valid point. I agree actually.
  7. Yeah, I can't see them meeting much competition.
  8. You mean mall punk? Don't call it punk plz. It's fine if you like that music, but real punk would scare most Greenday/Simple Plan/Blink 182 fans. I like all three of the bands you listed in that last part but to lump GD in with the other two much more poppish bands is nearly sacrilege. GreenDay has some good stuff, but they still have a lot of poppy material and appeal.
  9. Jeez, can those two headlines be any more punny?
  10. You're right.... Blah blah Blah, give Dusty every chance to turn it around, blah blah blah Actually, I was thinking it would be more like something they do in THe Onion like "Ask the student that didn't do the required reading" Dear student that didn't do the required reading: I don't approve of my daughter's fiance... Should I still go to the wedding?" -mother in Fresno Dear Mother in Fresno: Tom Sawyer is a story about a time when people were so poor that they didn't wear shirts but just had overalls. ... Tom Sawyer is a Signet Classic in the truest sense of the word. It was well worth the $6.95 purchase price. In fact, if I were in Canada, I'd even pay $7.95. that's such a classic. I love the Onion
  11. Too bad I'm out of town. Somebody please call. We could assemble a list of questions and have everyone try to get on.
  12. I really like the pumpkins and feel like they're on of the bands that helped define 90's rock. DMB just annoys me -- its what all the potheads and hippie girls used to listen to at my hs.
  13. Flea is really, really good.
  14. Could you get a copy and send it anonymously to Hendry and Dustbrain? You would have to label it "Top Secret: footage of the toolsiest player to ever aggressively swing the bat, do not allow other GMs a chance to see this 11-tool player." And then say it's from a scout of whatever team wins this year's world series.  11 tools
  15. That myth probably originated because close games are really exciting when won, and really hard to swallow when lost, so people remember them
  16. 9 is way to high for the white stripes imo.
  17. See, that's the problem. You're comparing what you view as VH's best song with a song that's not even LS's top. It's just the one you've heard most. It's like using "Creep" to judge Radiohead, or "All Along the Watchtower" to rate Hendrix. If Jump is just what I view as their best song, then what's the problem with comparing it to what I view as LS's best song? This tournament is all about subjectivity anyways isn't it? From the seedings to the matchups to the votes, subjectivity is the name of the game. Some here (not pointing at you Constable, you just have the misfortune of being quoted in this post) are taking this way too seriously IMO. It's about who you like, not who is more well-respected or whatnot. Haha I'm not trying to take it seriously at all, I just think it's fun. OK, what I was trying to convey is, I know this is mainly a contest based on subjectivity, but I think there are some objective ways at looking at how good two bands are. With any argument comparing two variables, one must at least try to level the controls. I thought that your post skewed the controls -- no one could reasonably say that 3 Doors Down is a better band than The Rolling Stones because "Landing in London" is a much better song than "Rough Justice". Everyone's entitled to their own opinion; I just thought the way you presented yours made for a weaker argument (obviously, nothing personal).
  18. This is a disgrace! Wow, I have to admit, this tournament has been a lot of fun! :D
  19. Now that we're talking Police. Has anyone heard the Puff Daddy version of "Roxanne"? It's so infuriating and awful that it's funny. It's on itunes as "Roxanne '97" or something. Check it out.
  20. See, that's the problem. You're comparing what you view as VH's best song with a song that's not even LS's top. It's just the one you've heard most. It's like using "Creep" to judge Radiohead, or "All Along the Watchtower" to rate Hendrix.
  21. If McCarver was on as frequently, he's worse. The worst is when McCarver and Buck do a Cubs-Cards Saturday game. Infuriating.
  22. The 06 season wasn't a total bust then..
  23. in case you weren't being sarcastic: Its a skinny bat used to hit pop-flies to outfielders for defensive practice. Oh, and anyone realize that this is yet another excuse for Hendry to not fire Dusty? "Well, we didn't have our all-star out there. It's not Dusty's fault" Argh
  24. Great. Take the one thing we have left.
  25. eddie van halen is one of the greatest guitarists ever to pick up a guitar, period. 1984 >>> every lynryd skynyrd album He is a great guitarist, but Van Halen still just annoys me. Skynyrd's sound is unique and original. They had three lead guitarists AND a piano - -who else could pull that off? Furthermore, I find Halen's lyrics really lame and childish, where as Skynyrd's are much more from the heart. The Ballad of Curtis Loew, All I Can Do is Write About it, FreeBird, compared to Jump, Panama, and Hot For Teacher ("I got my pencilll, schoool dis-misseddddd"). C'mon.
