  1. As a huge Surf Dawgs fan, I'm disappointed.
  2. Hahaha this poll seems wayyyy to close :D
  3. What do you mean, damage control? Don't you understand? THIS TIME IT COUNTS! Ps. you should probably edit out that "Ozzieism" in there
  4. You forgot Zambrano. If he's not the definition of "untradeable," I don't know what is. I'd say that Neifi is the definition of untradable. We have very different definitions.  I audibly chucked at that.
  5. Lemme guess, he was on the turf for 5 minutes and the other team's captain was given a red card...
  6. What does Giles playing way below what people expected of him have anything to do with Hendry or Jones? Hendry still made a mistake with Jones, it was just less of a mistake than he would've made with Giles.
  7. If this was close (which it's not), you could at least say that the WC has every country featuring its best players. The same cannot be said of the WBC.
  8. Am I honestly the only one who doesn't care at all about the success of the Sox? no.
  9. I just LOL'd. I can only imagine the stupid stuff he would say. I'm sure if the instructor had some sort of swear jar for charity in the front of the class, many orphans could be fed.
  10. Why don't we just settle this by signing both?
  11. Actually, based on paper, most prognosticators thought they'd win the division, didn't they? They're about where I expected them to be right now, actually. I know they'd have rough stretches. I don't think the prediction to win the central was based on their pitching. To me, it was more an indictment of the rest of the division. Could be. Carpenter is a stud. I think everyone assumed that Mulder would be terrific. Suppan is ALWAYS steady. Marquis looked like a solid #4, and most folks figured that one of Reyes/Wainwright/Ponson would impress. I wouldn't say that the pitching looked great, but they certainly looked solid and deep. And, they may yet be. They certainly aren't right now. If by being a career .500 pitcher ( 100-98 ) with a career ERA of 4.68 means steady, which I suppose it could be, you are kinda right. But I don't think Suppan is a very reliable starter, IMHO. Well, steady could mean that there aren't any surprises...
  12. She's married to Guy Ritchie, who lives in England, where a "[expletive]" is a cigarette, not a slur against gays. It all makes sense now.
  13. Somehow, that dancing bear suddenly makes the dismal US performance OK...
  14. We've been hearing that for 20+ years. It's not going to happen anytime soon. If anything I think this World Cup may have turned off more people in this country. A lot of people (myself included) were willing to give soccer a chance after hearing about this team that was supposedly going to put us on the map. Instead we got a horrible showing and repeatedly watched guys flopping and writhing around on the ground after little or no contact. Like others have said, the diving and crying is just pathetic to watch. I shutter to think of what may happen if these guys tried to play hockey or football. I never knew that falling on grass could induce such horrible injuries. Act like a man or at least a youth athlete for crying out loud. Part of the problem is that the officials are buying it. If they start giving out more yellows for diving and stalling (which they really should), it'd be a much different game. Soccer's bad, but look at the NBA. How many times do we see superstars fall on their own for a call. It happened at least twice in game 6 of the finals on Wade's part. Just play the game.
  15. 1. This isn't Venezuela - it's America. You've lived here long enough to understand what our words mean. 2. I didn't realize hateful slurs had different meanings in different regions. I know one of the WNBA's biggest stars, Swoopes, is openly gay, but is that really something to list to prove you're not homophobic - women's basketball? Madonna? His entire "apology" is fantastic and hillarious. First, the venezuela thing. It's a defense that a derogatory term for homosexual has different connotations in his home country that he's lived out of for most of his life? (example: When I said the team played like crap, I meant "crap" in the way we meant it back home, that they literally smelled bad while playing) Secondly, the WNBA, Madonna, and gay friends... It's like a parody of an apology. And rabbit, my guess on the WNBA is that he's aware of how homosexual the fan base for it is. It actively markets to the homosexual community. Really... I hadn't heard much about that. But even so. Can you imagine him calling a reporter the N-word and then going on to say that it means something different in Venezuela and that he has black friends and goes to Dr. Dre concerts? It's pathetic. Suspend and fine the guy.
  16. Dribbles in the box and then cuts it back out. My God... So much for our coming out party. If not for the fans or the team, at least do it for the sake of soccer in the country. Once again, the US is just a team the rest of the world has no problem playing. No credibility. ARGH! Even just advancing to the next round would have meant so much to soccer in the country. It certainly would've meant a lot to me. And now in South Africa, we get another crappy seeding (albeit less crappy with '98 out of the picture) because of our poor showing. Just very disappointing. And hopefully next time (and later on in this year's cup) the officials let the guys play soccer. The diving and crying has reached a new low.

  19. I don't know what to say other than "how did it get this bad?" Geez... Edit: I know literally how, I'm just saying
  20. I hate the Braves and am loving how poorly they're doing this season.
  21. That's not 100% true for me, but I will say that the World Cup is making it much easier on me. I can be excited and passionate about a team that doesn't completely suck - you know, it takes my mind off of baseball for a little while.
  22. So they should change the name from Wrigley to Misery Stadium then? Walter E. Smithe field! We could watch the circus and rodeo instead of the Cubs! I'm just saying...
  23. I don't really care that he's fat. It's more that he all-out sucks. There are always some fat pitchers who can get stuff done David Wells... Rod Beck! and ponson :x
  24. Dare I say I now know what a Knicks fan feels like?
  25. Nasty? I do that anyway!
