  1. I liked him. He was a good pitcher on the Cubs.
  2. Hayyyy what did you win today? The award for "Making a baseless statement, getting pwned by Rocket Sauce, then totally ignoring said pwning and continuing on with more intelligent analysis". Awesome. while i agree with the sentiments...why would one use terminology such as "pwned" or 'pwning'? I'm 27, still fairly young, and I'm baffled. I would expect my niece or nephews to use such terminology if they were obnoxious. Thankfully, they aren't. Again, I do agree with the sentiments outlined in your post. Edit - actually, I just agree that it may not be wise to evaluate Prior as "done, nothing, etc". I'm 28  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pwned Hillarious

Yeah dude, it's spelled, "pwn3d."
  4. Explains how Queen's sorry butt got as far as they've gone. Combine these with the wave at Wrigley the other day and I'm starting to lose my desire to be associated with other Cubs fans. Hahahaha. Yes! ps led zeppelin
  5. I voted for the last one, because I think it's quite possible, but I almost don't care at this point.
  6. Why do you hate them? I could tell you why he hates the White Sox. He had some anti-White Sox blog last year. He used to post there under a different name, but he says all the same things. One reason was that there was some Sox fan at his high school (New Trier) that he hated and the other was that he used to post on southsiders.net, which is a small-time White Sox message board. I guess they banned him and it was the mortal wound of his life because after that he went on a real rampage, trolling all the Sox message boards, kicking his blog into overtime, trolling non-White Sox boards with anti-White Sox messages, encouraging people to spam and troll the southsiders.net board, etc. He'd report his anti-White Sox activities on his anti-Sox blog (which is gone now). A lot of it was funny to read, particularly his defense of his activities (White Sox fans are bad because they hate the Cubs obsessively, so he hates the White Sox obsessively)and his theory that MLB is conspiring to keep the Cubs from ever winning the World Series. A little too much time on your hands? If you're implying that I might have made this up, I can assure you that's not the case. viewtopic.php?t=22103 This thread contains an encounter I had with the person I am talking about. If that person is not the same person who now posts as CubsBullsBears then I apologize for my mistake. Recalling that conversation as well as some of the things said here as well as what I remember from that blog (for example, calling Carlos Lee "El Horso" or claiming that Mark Buerhle tried to murder Travis Hafner), I simply put 2 and 2 together. I wasn't implying that you made it up. I was stating that you have too much time on your hands. And the fact that you dug up a thread that's over a year old is more telling of that. And a bit creepy as well. LMAOOOO that's some pretty extensive research and quite damning evidence. You should be a private-eye.
  7. BAH! I'm leaving LA a week too early!!!!!!
  8. Hahaha I just read that. Wasn't there a Hendry quotation or something where he talks about how the Yankees don't talk about OBP?
  9. We're 10 games out dude. Gotta keep pushing for that Wild Card. I don't see those mathematics kicking in yet. We're only 10 games out?! Actually, 9.5 games now. ...wiiiiith 11 teams in front of us
  10. I thought Vance was in the "Hire Davey Johnson" bandwagon (I refused to shorten it, ), so if this is the "Real Vance" then he has had some flipping of the mind. Nah...he's been firmly for Dierker first, Johnson second...pretty closely for quite a while. Didn't Vance start the Dierker for manager thread as well? Yep, I think Vince's backing solidified after reading Dierker's book. ...and finding out that it was signed.
  11. Why do you hate them? There fans are rude, dumb, and obnoxious people who have this anti-Cubs agenda, that they root for the Twins and Tigers over the Cubs. They are not true fans. They pretend to like the White Sox b/c they hate the Cubs. And why is your SN misleading?? So you plan on countering that how? By opening countless threads on the subj?
  12. KK pastries, DD coffee.
  13. I rediscovered "Ten Years Gone" yesterday. It's just so awesome.
  14. My favorite games to watch and attend are day games, but I think night games at Wrigley are pretty cool, and were a necessary addition to the schedule. From a strictly nostalgic standpoint, I do think it was kinda cool how up until the late 80s, our stadium didn't have lights.
  15. wtg Vance! Also, thanks for recommending the 7&7. They're excellent.
  16. Did you read that article? The gyroball's an urban legend. Certainly not the key to Matsunaka's success. Reminscent of this guy: http://www.museumofhoaxes.com/siddfinch.html Fascinating article. He'd look good in cubbie blue next season, gyroball or not. Edit: Wow, his slider is wicked. Hahahaha Sidd Finch. That's awesome.
  17. I hate the scoreboard craftsman lawnmower race, and any other computer generated race, especially those that don't result in a possible prize for certain fans.
  18. So Cobb's number should be retired, too? I think Cobb only revolutionized the game and broke records.
  19. I think he may be recognized as the first really great one, but that's not quite the same thing. There were popular latinos before him, especially lots of Cubans, like Minnie Minoso. There were even Puerto Ricans that came a full decade before Roberto, like Hiram Bithorn. Yeah, I was thinking because he was the first latin player in the HOF, in addition to his great personality and humanitarian work. He was also an excellent, excellent player. I guess I feel like they should find some way to honor him.
  20. Absolutely. Neifi is a better defender than Izturis. Cesar's 2005 fielding rate: 108 His career fielding rate: 101 http://www.baseballprospectus.com/dt/izturce01.shtml Neifi's 2005 fielding rate: 115 His career fielding rate: 111 http://www.baseballprospectus.com/dt/perezne01.shtml By PMR, Neifi is shown to have been much better in 2005: http://anaheimangelsblog.blogspot.com/2006/01/pmr-redux-shortstops-update-david.html Just because some Dodgers fans (who probably watch as many Cubs games as I watch Dodgers games) think he's the best fielder in baseball doesn't mean it's true. And Dewan's method of rating middle infielders is pretty flawless, by the way. Interesting. I'd like to get more into defensive metrics, but whenever I try to read definitions, there are a bunch of constants that variables are multiplied that I don't understand. Surely they're not arbitrary, but I'd like to know where they come from. Can anyone recommend a website or handbook that goes into where these standards come from?
  21. Agreed. Breaking records isn't enough to have your number retired. You need to be more than just a player...and yeah, it's tough to clarify, but like the saying goes, "I know it when I see it." Right. Robinson arguably is not a hall of famer if he is not the first black player, but his actions clearly did a lot for the game. I would like to see Clemente and Ruth also retired. For all of MLB? Why? Both were great players, but what did they do equivalent to what Robinson did? Clemente did the equivalent of what Robinson did, except for latin players, imo. I feel like Ruth revolutionized the game in the way that he played it. He had a great personality, changed the way we think about power, and was the only player to be an absolutely sick pitcher and hitter. He also broke a lot of records, unlike Clemente and Robinson. What? Clemente did not introduce latin players to MLB. He wasn't even the first "black" latino in the majors. Well, I guess it's not fair to compare them because Clemente wasn't the first like Robinson was, but isn't Clemente recognized as the face of latin ballplayers in the MLB?
