  1. He was on one knee for a solid stare down, then he decided let's do one more while standing for good measure.
  2. Bryant 2/3 with 2 singles today.
  3. The fun thing is that I don't really see the PCL being THAT much harder than the Southern League. Smarter pitchers probably, but i'd imagine the pure stuff at AA is probably better than AAA.
  4. If Javy continues to finish strong, is starting at Iowa next year a distinct possibility now?
  5. Man, Baez ended up flying out but the first pitch he saw was a oppo rope he crushed, but about 10 feet foul.
  6. Daytona looks like a go weatherwise.
  7. Indeed. It's nice to have the tie-breaker over everyone except Houston. Even though the Cubs are currently tied with Milwaukee for the 4th pick, they are effectively a game ahead. This makes them 1.5 ahead of San Francisco, 2 ahead of the Phillies, 2.5 ahead of the Angels, and 3 ahead of San Diego, Minnesota and Toronto. There are 43 games left to play. That is pretty damn big given how many teams suck. And, I mean, the Whitesox are awful, but I still feel like they can grit their way to make the #3 spot interesting.
  8. Bowden overrates everyone but I guess this isn't technically from him: http://insider.espn.go.com/blog/the-gms-office/post?id=7439 Uh....yes please at that price.
  9. Online translator for the win: http://www.elnuevoherald.com/2013/08/11/1542052/el-pelotero-cubano-abreu-abandona.html
  10. Wow. Any idea if he'd be a FA relatively soon or if it'd be the offseason?
  11. Follows up the 1-2-3 1st with a 1-2-3 2nd, but two balls were hit pretty hard that inning.
  12. You know what, I take that back. I don't know why I was under the impression his Daytona slash was a bit extreme as well. I know SSS for Tennessee, but for some reason I was thinking it's been a trend and couldn't find his prior league splits.
  13. Not to kill any Javy buzz, but something to keep an eye on: Vs. LHP (AA): .444/.512/.917 ---1.429 OPS Vs. RHP (AA): .200/.253/.482 ---.735 OPS Pretty sure some of his good hits in the last few days have came off of righties too, though.
  14. I feel like every year my brain tells me we should take a pitcher but my heart tells me "Man, if we just added one more hitter imagine how even more super-stacked we'd be in that department. Just one more..."
  15. K'd in his 4th AB. Was down 0-2 and then worked it all the way to 3-2. Took a fastball on the corner for strike 3. Not the worst strikeout to have.
  16. My bad on the ground rule double, I saw it and then heard the announcer say 3 runs score (presumably the runners/announcer not knowing it went over the fence) and just posted without thinking about it. Bryant double, and the average up to .277 now.
  17. Olt just crushed a 3-run ground rule double off of Taijuan Walker.
  18. Wait, what happened? (At a friend's baby's birthday party, not watching.) Pitch was inside near Hanley's hands (not even close to intentional), Hanley responds by flailing his hands in a "what the hell are you doing?" motion. Dodgers bench starts yapping at Villanueva and Navarro. Hanley walks later in the at-bat and places his bat down directly between Navarro's legs. Navarro smashes it on the ground and busts the handle or something before handing it to the bat boy.
  19. I think it was worth keeping Navarro just to see him break Hanley's bat before handing it to the bat boy.
