  1. No way Harvey falls to us again, right? Or can Boras make him go that far?
  2. Do some scouts think that Moustakas can stay at SS or is it a consensus he's going to the hot corner?
  3. Buddy of mine just texted me saying h hopes we take Parker because he's been to his starts and said he can really paint some corners.
  4. They were saying the same thing about Pawelek being mormon and being a good kid. They were also saying that his arm was electric and was hitting the mid 90's. To me at least, there are similarities there that would make me shy away from taking Parker. I'm just saying it's unfair to criticize a kid because of another kid's failures. We can go by only what we know, and we do know that Parker's coach has saved his arm and that he has clean mechanics. And FWIW, I thought I only remembered hearing that Pawelek topped out at 95 and was at a constant 91-92 when he was drafted.
  5. I don't think the Cubs would have drafted Pawelek if they new he would not take care of his body and show up overweight. Plus Pawelek's fastball was always in the lower 90's and then he lost some more MPH due to his body. I don't think you'll have to worry about that with Parker. His arm is electric. BTW, Parker is who huge helper in the community and in his church I read, so you know he's a good kid.
  6. Just to clarify, who's "word on the street"? BA or something?
  7. I think they are strongly leaning towards Vitters, but I just don't think its set in stone yet. Sadly, I see the Cubs brass split between Parker and Vitters. Rumor has it Porcello is asking for way more than the Royals are going to spend, and they're leaning towards taking Vitters now... which leaves us with a damn high school pitcher. Parker honestly is very good. Consistently at 95 and tops out at 99, great and smooth mechanics, very good control, plus slider. Changeup is worse then the previous 2 pitches, but is expected to be a plus pitch once he uses it more.
  8. Still unacceptable at 3, but with that report it doesn't seem bad for supp. Nice patience at least. Edit: For the record, i'd be a little more interested in a HS SS that might fall. I remember a couple that appealed to me.
  9. Hendry was also at Parkers start. And Vitters personally worked out with the Cubs (and Pirates). Who knows? I will be royally pissed if Wilkins pulls this again though.
  10. eek at 3. Not perfect but not horrible at sandwhich.
  11. From BA's tools rankings: Vitters: Best pure HS hitter 2nd best power hitter (HS) (Moustakas first, Burgess third) 2nd best strikezone judgement (Heyward 1, Noonan 3) 1st in highschool player (including pitchers) closest to majors (Tim Alderson 2nd, Rick Porcello 3rd) Parker: Best HS fastball
  12. There's just no way we would reward ourselves for last year's pile o' crap with another crazy pick like that.
  13. I'm more pumped about Gallagher than the corresponding move. I hope it's not just a one and done thing though, and that we give him a chance to stay up if he succeeds.
  14. Take a peek in the minors forum. I'm not sure how peoria is related to Sean, but he/she is supposedly reporting the Cubs are about to bring up Gallagher. Now for the discussion if this happens: Bullpen? Rotation? (can't really see any scenario here) Trade?
  15. Listening to Len and Bob give Ryan Braun's scouting report sounded alot like I was listening to another 3rd basemans scouting report (Vitters), with all the lightning quick hands comments, etc. Possible future comparison?
  16. Ugh Thursday needs to get here.
  17. Even the recent "down to earth" Marquis is much better than what 3/4ths this board expected.
  18. Doesn't Roto get their stuff from online newspapers? Any link to the whole article?
  19. Dude is crazy for threatening to kill his wife. He's still got lots of potential though, only batting .212 this year but with a .332 OBP (which isn't that good, but it's decent for the .212 average), and on pace to hit 30+ HR.
  20. Was just about to post that. I asked him if he had a story behind it, or if he was just guessing since most things have pointed to Vitters. Hopefully i'll get a response.
  21. Felix, work your championship magic. Hopefully he can spark us like Murton did a few years back.
