  1. I don't think he exists. Hendry just made him up in order to make the signing look decent.
  2. <------------ Extremely behind. Following on gameday.
  3. Not that I'm trying to convince myself that we're still in this game, but - c'mon Barrett. Just not a double play.
  4. Maybe he's making up for bunting the first pitch of the game when everyone was expecting him to do so. I'd like to see the Cubs deal Pierre, Williams, Jones, Perez, Wiiliamson and Wood when he's off the DL in June/July. Go into rebuilding mode now? Hendry wants to keep his job, you know. He has to make a show of competing at least until the break. Well, I'd argue getting rid of Williams, Jones, Perez and Williamson doesn't really demonstrate a rebuilding, and I'd personally welcome Pie in Pierre's place. I want to see if Woody has anything left. Why Williamson? I agree with the rest of it, but Williamson is pretty durned good.
  5. Isn't kind of funny that Novoa has already pitched MORE innings than Jerome did? Well, funny only in that I-laugh-so-I-don't-cry sort of way.
  6. That is definately the worst feeling and my biggest pet peeve about pitching. I'm glad I'm not the only one who gets aggravated by that. You are definitely not. It irks the heck out of me. To put it in a friendly, family-oriented board sort of way.
  7. So I just started to pay attention to the game. This is disgraceful. I can't wait till Wood, Prior, and Miller come back. ...cause then, I can watch them walk the pitcher with the bases loaded.
  8. I agree. I also don't think it's a good idea to have Murton in the 2 spot - not because he wouldn't be a good two hitter, but because we can't afford to put what little power threats we've got at the top of the lineup. I feel similarly about Walker. I might want to go something like this: Pierre Hairston Murton Aramis Walker Barrett Jones Cedeno I'd also be fine putting Aramis third and moving Murton down to fifth or sixth, but I like Murton third because he takes pitches, which lead to better pitches to hit as well as walks, and allows him to see more of the pitcher early in the game.
  9. And, Dusty seems a bit too gung-ho with the whole "hey! I have speed now!" thing. Like sending Aramis. That is NEVER, under any circumstances, a good idea. And he did it TWICE in the Dodger series (okay, once was on a 3-2 count, so I can't fault him TOO much for that one - but there was only one out).
  10. Does anyone know why Dusty pulled Marshall? He was only at 80 pitches or so, if I'm remembering correctly, and looked like he was really settling down in the previous couple of innings. I know that Dusty is trying not to overwork his arm, because he didn't get enough innings in spring training, but by now he should be able to go past 80 pitches.
  11. Yes. Although entrances are slightly less secured but they won't let you near a section that isn't yours. This is definitely true. I went to all three games (my first at Dodger Stadium), and the $8 bleacher tickets suited my wallet much better. I did not know, however, that they do not serve alcholol of any kind in the bleachers, nor would they allow us to move to any section where they did, even if we didn't bring it back to our own section. Plus, it meant not being able to get close to the players during batting practice, which was no fun. The seats were still nice, though.
  12. Just got back from the game. Maddux was completely awesome. I was right next to the Cubs' bullpen, so I got to talk to those guys a bit. When I said hi to David Aardsma (I think), he said that it wasn't him, and his name was John. I think he was lying, because how could you forget that face (Cubbies75, I'm talking to you)? Plus, who in our bullpen is named John? No one I know. For anyone at the game, the Cubs fan starting chants in the right field bleachers was my drunken idiot college buddy, if you were close enough to hear. I'm going again tomorrow - hopefully Zambrano is as dominating as Maddux was.
  13. Not to throw this way off-topic or anything, but you're from Los Angeles and you're a North Carolina fan? Please tell me you lived in North Carolina sometime. I grew up in North Carolina - basically spent my whole life pre-college there, and been a lifelong fan. While I didn't wind up actually going there, it was my second choice, and my oldest friend, my sister, and many, many other friends have all attended (or are attending) the school. But I'm with you - I'm generally not a fan of people who just decide to be a Tar Heel or Duke fan cause they're good (especially Duke - gross).
  14. I am totally pumped to be going to all three games (my first at Dodger Stadium - should be exciting). A friend of mine got the tickets, so I don't know exactly where, but I think I'm sitting in the bleachers, near the visitor's bullpen all three games ($8 tickets are nice). If anyone else is gonna be there, I'll be in a Prior Jersey (cause it's the only jersey I've got). SO excited.
  15. Except on MVP baseball. Lee's HUGE in that game.
  16. Duke will probably go at least into the seventh at this rate. This is not good.
  17. I think Dusty is a bit enamored with his new-found speed. I have no trouble with stealing bases, generally, but discretion should be used, I think.
  18. So on gameday, it marks Jerome's second pitch to Burnitz as right in the middle of the strike zone, but still called a ball. Is that accurate, or is gameday just crazy?
  19. I'm so fricking jealous. I want to see Marshall pitch. SO - and I know I asked a question like this a few days back, and I appreciate everyone's input, but does anyone have MLB.tv and a DSL connection? I'm just leary of paying 80 bucks only to get choppy video feeds. Thanks a bunch.
  20. My guess is that this won't happen. Not impossible, and I hope (and think) that he has improved, but I just don't think he's capable of a 3.5 or less ERA season.
