  1. He's starting to look like Jerramy Stevens.
  2. I hope not Well, shows what I know. Hell of a display by the defense there.
  3. they'll score here.
  4. That's weird, they never get flagged when then hold.
  5. Lorenzen is a gutless coward. Fatass SLID....SLID with the game on the line when they were playing GB and all he had to do was run over a shrimpish safety...but with a full head of steam he just slid on 4th down. True, but with his size you'd think he'd be the perfect fit. This is the point of the game where the opposing team deludes themselves into thinking they may have a chance.
  6. They need to put Jared Lorenzen in there as full back.
  7. yeah so i'm not sure if you've noticed by now but warp is kind of a joke. that aside, you're viewing these as a cumulative 40 prospects graded with no rankings. you're mistaken in their intent. their intent is to rank the players by best to worst of the top 40 prospects, and there is just far too many previous errors to indicate they have a good handle on what they're doing. flaws in your method aside, this point best highlights the juxtaposition between the two. looking at the lists in hindsight, it is apparent that BA does a better job of sniffing out the star players which is highly due to the superior scouting input with which they affiliate. given that they tend to gravitate towards the more high upside star caliber players rather than the average regular types the results regarding cumulative warp would also be distorted by the quantity over quality approach the latter employs. if you like their rankings, i'm glad for you. i've never been impressed with them, but i'm sure they're happy to have your monthly $5.
  8. 3 G in two games, looks like Chris Drury is alive after all...
  9. let's see- i've learned in this thread that brian roberts would be the best player on the team if we acquired him and would be best suited hitting 9th.
  10. mlb will grant them an extention. mets offering 152, two sides are 10m apart. according to John Heyman
  11. the bp prospect lists have always been bloody awful http://www.baseballprospectus.com/news/20030129roundtable.shtml http://www.baseballprospectus.com/article.php?articleid=2594 http://www.baseballprospectus.com/article.php?articleid=3773 https://baseballprospectus.com/article.php?articleid=1335 usually about half of their top half just completely busts out. you'll find some of the other lists have better reliability for future forecast, but i guess it's all for entertainment anyways.
  12. they're optimistic for about every position player. i'm going to take the under on the guzman proj too.
  13. the most enthusiastic i've ever seen fans at any live sporting event.
  14. Why don't we just use that offer to get Jimmy Rollins? Our lineup will be super awesome then!
  15. not bothering to respond?
  16. if i were a GM i know i'd think of ways to alienate all of my players.
  17. prove? i wish you graded my homework. "it's got numbers, well i'm convinced!" this tool is fun for discussion and comparison, but it's so divorced from reality that you shouldn't put too much stock in it's accuracy. last year's results had brad ausmus batting leadoff. good idea, give one of the awful-est hitters in the entire sport 140 more PAs. i know its en vogue for us to think conventional wisdom is always wrong, but imagine hitting your run producers at the top of the order, burying your speedy on base types at the end, giving your pitchers more ABs, and various other types of backwards strategies. you'll have managers asking players to do things diametrically different than they have the previous 10-20 years of their career and you'll breed a team of malcontents as a bonus to reduced offensive production. and don't the other sabermetric studies argue a minimal impact from the lineup order? this has a 100+ runs difference impact based on the batting order for the Cubs example.
  18. who said they were random? we haven't a clue what they're factoring, how much weight they're giving it, what they're omitting, and still it's used as gospel of a player's true value. it's laughable. i guess i'm more critical. what statistic do you prefer that gives an estimation how much a player is worth? not just hitting, but value for their fielding, and baserunning too. none exist yet. not even close. you could consider all the aspects of a player's game and make an educated evaluation with all of the incomplete information you're presented with instead of lazily trusting another self-proclaimed expert to do your thinking for you. it's more fun too.
  19. those guys thought jeremy reed was the best defensive CF in baseball.
  20. who said they were random? we haven't a clue what they're factoring, how much weight they're giving it, what they're omitting, and still it's used as gospel of a player's true value. it's laughable. i guess i'm more critical.
  21. any reason why we have so much faith in a statistical manipulation with which we have no idea the formula?
  22. His name looks like an anagram of Plaschke so I don't trust him.
  23. Because "Bergen Record's Bob Klapisch" is probably blowing smoke.
