  1. If you had made this evaluation a month ago, Ramirez was right where Braun is now(to speak nothing of where Braun was a month ago, or of the fact that Ramirez has done this for the four previous seasons). But Braun is a "middle of the order beast" and Ramirez isn't? yes, because ryan braun is a better hitter than aramis ramirez. I give up then. so i was curious how everything fared out at the end of the season Player OPS+ EqA VORP wOBA Ramirez 130 .297 44.6 .375 Braun 127 .294 43.5 .367 interesting since most would probably perceive Braun had the better year without looking into the numbers, but Ramirez clearly had the better offensive season of the two good call on TT's part for sure
  2. anybody but the Red Sox; their top 3 is better than ours imo
  3. Coors helps some, but a player should be penalized for taking advantage of his home park far better than the rest of his team does? that's just lazy and wrong and it's better anyways if sportswriters pay little attention to FRAR
  4. the Cowboys are still tops in that division for sure
  5. because he's a hideous monster with a dumb fan chant
  6. i'm mos def takin Yao with first pick
  7. and Dubois also struck out twice as often not a very good example
  8. ok so perhaps you'd prefer his past 2 seasons worth of ABs in Iowa, 153 games, as a sufficient sample .340/.378/.649 58 doubles 41 HR 173 RBI MLE of .901 OPS
  9. that doesn't make any sense at all
  10. your friend is dead wrong, he's not going anywhere
  11. yeah he should, especially since the Twins are the dumbest org in pro sports
  12. yeah its just 350 PA but Shin-Shoo Choo has a higher OPS than Holliday, Dave Wright, Morneau, Miguel Cabrera, Hamilton, Utley
  13. i dare you guys to look at the Cardinals lineup today worse than 2girls1cup imo
  14. K rate 2004 - 24.7% 2005 - 20.7% 2006 - 20.8% 2007 - 16.1% 2008 - 14.9% i've been glad to see he's consistently cut down on his Ks each year while actually improving his slugging as well overall did i mention he's a great CF? GIVE POOR GUY A CHANCE ALREADY
  15. Felix represents enough of a massive defensive upgrade from Edmonds to bridge the gap (somewhat) in offensive output. I have little doubt that Fukudome improves considerably next year which also will help duplicate this years success for the team. As for Gomez, he's closing out the season well with 800+ September OPS after a brutal summer stretch. He won't, but should get GG consideration. Expect him to improve by a decent amount next year. /Gomez apologistism
  16. 101 K in 421 PA is fine for a 21 yo in the majors who's slugging .490 in the second half
  17. eh i just took a couple minutes and ran it in excel FirstInning does it but just for last year
  18. there's only 8 SS in the AL?
  19. great BB:K rate and a doubles machine in the minors, and league-leading doubles this year surely indicates power isn't going away he's clearly grown into power, which is not terribly uncommon. some guys i can think of are Garrett Anderson, Holliday, Chris Duncan, Beltran, Hunter, Carlos Guillen and I'm sure hundreds of others as well. i like McLouth a lot ... yeah i just plagiarized myself
  20. that's precisely the point. i'm seeing average SS line as .268/.323/.385 and .314 wOBA so Theriot's monthly splits, wOBA: 0.389 0.348 0.326 0.358 0.322 0.260 september's the only month where he falls below avg threshold for SS and that's just 2/3 the sample size of the rest
  21. i don't know what purpose is served by bringing up his peripherals when we're arguing over whether he was detrimental in the 2 months with the .384 & .407 OBPs. i'm very well aware of his miserable ISO, but are you arguing that a slugging can be low enough where even getting a .380 OBP in the 2 spot from a min-salary SS is adversely affecting the offense?
  22. Mike Fontenot - the moment we shared in the bathroom together
  23. is it really possible to "suck" with a .384 or .407 OBP? some have pretty high standards for offensive production from a league minimum SS
  24. if they don't have elite RBs then i don't know what team does i think guys like LDT and AD are elite RBs. barber and jones are very good but not elite IMO; they may put up elite numbers because the offensive line is so great. just watch how many times barber goes 3-5 yards before being touched. and watch how many times he's hit and he keeps running unphased best bruiser in the game and terrific HR threat, a top 3 RB tandem without a doubt
  25. if they don't have elite RBs then i don't know what team does
