  1. ha ha, hey what do you think of Paul Sullivan, MGL, and the Reds' young talent?
  2. to be fair, they were hot after Manny and his $20m salary before Sox took the Dodgers/Pirates offer
  3. http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_22WFsGSxBI8/SFcqFq58HJI/AAAAAAAABfg/lKj5HZXiUL0/s400/High_Fidelity.jpg VERY [expletive]
  4. i'd pay to see Bobby Lou's reaction
  5. i'm calling it STL – Pujols DET – Prince CHC – AGonz Yankees put in perfunctory bids to these guys and settle on the Jesus for DH same with Sox & Lars Anderson, but i guess the wild card is if these guys get traded in a deadline deal and re-up like Holliday Marlins are going to spend big on a guy to open their new stadium with (we call this Juan Gonzalezing), but i'm not sure who i think that'll be yet
  6. firstinning has him at 52.5% GB / 15.3% LD / 30.5% FB / 7.4% IBB, for whatever you care to glean from that info
  7. Canuck players' reaction to Chelsea Dagger, pretty amusing – esp Sedin & Kesler
  8. How do you pick a team a year and a half ago and not take the Blackhawks? Or were the most popular team in the law school class at the time? you'll hate me, i'm not telling you nhl 10, has to be
  9. no, my argument is that you're wrong about the wings being the best team left in the playoffs. also you're a wings fan so that might be hurting your ability to see this objectively. howard's stats are good because the wings always play a really good defensive system. osgood always had good stats and he was never that great. in 13 years with the Wings, Osgood never even approached the SV% Howard had this year. irrespective of that, whichever you give credit to (great team defense or great goalie), it helps my point that they're the favorites right now
  10. Please explain how you come to the conclusion that the 5th place team in the conference is the favorite over the 3 teams above them that made it to the 2nd round? Not to mention whatever team makes it to the the Finals from the east. their depth was pretty decimated by injuries for much of the year, and it took 1/3 the season to move away from Osgood, and Filpulla's emergence has made them a completely different team i definitely wouldn't have made that statement earlier in the year. nonetheless, it's foolish to bet against Zetterberg, Lidstrom and Datsyuk in the playoffs. wait, your argument is that i somehow don't have enough exposure to the Wings to evaluate them? Howard was top 5 in the NHL for SV% and GAA, fwiw
  11. wow, just about everybody in this thread is seriously selling the Wings short. they have to be the favorites in any series from here on out, barring injury to any of the big three.
  12. there isn't a team in the league that can beat them the way they played tonight
  13. he, Lewand, Mayhew and co. have (politely) mentioned it many times saying they're glad that happened so he could fall to the end of the first so yeah, he is kind of a bastard
  14. my new favorite Schwartz quote “Some people watch adult videos on their computer. I go to YouTube and watch Jahvid Best highlight clips. That’s what gets me going.”
  15. there's a much much much better Ribiero embellishment, let me see if i can find it edit: oh my god, the sound effects make it even that much better
  16. i'm kinda shocked slow, useless Donovan Warren hasn't done the same thing, upon seeing the Jets have the best corps of corners in all of the league and he'll never get a shot to display his lack of skills
  17. Yeah, that jumped out at me too. That slugging is all kinds of nice, though. he didn't walk much last year, but if he can make consistent hard contact (which seems to be his greatest asset at the plate) and keep the ball in play, he projects as a .300+ hitter in the big leagues and the lack of walks won't kill him. the biggest concern with guys who have a poor walk rate is that they can't make enough contact. he actually improved his patience considerably during the season last year (even as he was graduating levels), so he's at least shown he's not incapable of it Split PA BB% K% April 68 2.9% 11.8% May 91 2.2% 9.9% June 112 6.3% 9.8% July 85 5.9% 7.1%
  18. oh please keep us updated
  19. Castro's had an MLE on the season so far of .345/.361/.534 – i'll take that
  20. They need a LT. Watch out for this Lions teams. It pains me to say it, but they are freaking stacked now if they get a good LT. Backus actually is a good LT. their main problem in protection was fielding the worst LG rotation in the league, but the trade for Sims fixed that
  21. Best isn't a surprise, but we're really going to be so thin at DB
  22. i can't imagine how hard this must be for you
  23. !!! http://www.sportingnews.com/images/126822/article.jpeg
  24. the biggest stretch is Mathews to Seattle; it just doesn't make any sense. for all his talk about needing a full-time back, they don't – Forsett is really quite good already
