  1. Chip Sylvie ‏@IllianaAAU Final tweet for a while: I just got a text. I can confirm Devin Booker will, indeed, commit to Kentucky today at 4 pm ET
  2. oh right, he's still in arb why the hell did Texas deny him arbitration? why does everybody hate this guy??
  3. so the Sox are going to get a ton of picks now too, right? they have these players hitting FA: Ellsbury Napoli Drew Saltalamacchia Uehara i think i'd QO every one of those; Ellsbury and Salty are no-brainers, i think- they'll both seek FA while they don't really have a place for him, Drew should stand to make much more in FA too and probably rejects the QO, and i think they'd like to have both Napoli (3.9 fWAR) & Uehara (3.3 fWAR, 3.8 RA9-WAR) back for 1/14 if you're prepared to do that, worst-case is getting 5 extra first-rounders...Jesus
  4. this is just crazy to think about “You could almost cover the [bleepin] lottery if in the preseason you go to Michigan, Michigan State, Kansas Kentucky,” one Western Conference NBA GM told SNY.tv. “I mean you basically almost got the lottery covered.”
  5. lol, in U-M's exhibition game vs. Concordia, Nick Stauskas was +103
  6. his 247 CB is still all UK, is there something you're hearing that's inspiring hope?
  7. how did i miss that he was basically the best pitcher in baseball, post-ASB?? Indians are sounding sure to give him the QO, FG crowd thinks he goes 4/49; that'd be tempting if we miss on Tanaka
  8. i'd trade him for Jonathan Gray and maybe Stephenson/Zimmer
  9. wow, autodraft did way the hell better than i would've
  10. i guess that involves speculating as to what available funds the FO has to work with but another way of looking at it, is would you rather give up a decent piece for Maybin and his 3/20 commitments, or take a chance on Chris B. Young for just money? fWAR, last 4 years Young (age 29): 2010 - 4.1 2011 - 4.5 2012 - 2.5 (363 PA) 2013 - 0.5 (375 PA) Maybin (age 26): 2010 - 0.5 (322 PA) 2011 - 4.2 2012 - 2.3 2013 - N/A, inj. sure, you have to like Maybin being nearer to his prime, but FG crowdsource believes Young will get 2Y/$13.6M which seems like it could be a better allocation of resources but what the hell, get both and trade Schierholtz; Sweeney & Bogusevic aren't the worst contingencies
  11. i thought about this for a while like a month back, but he's probably owed more ($20M) than we're likely willing to pay him and i don't know if i see SD picking up much i always prefer to gamble on upside though, so i'm game
  12. didn't he predict before the year Addison Russell & Baez would be the top two prospects?
  13. ages 22-28 (Calvin Johnson's career so far) Jerry Rice averaged 85.5 YPG, and Calvin's averaged 87.4 YPG important to note, 35 games of that were with Shaun Hill/Culpepper/Stanton/Kitna; in games with Stafford at QB, he's averaging 103 YPG, which blows all other (non-Lance Alworth) WRs out of the water
  14. you should; Borges coaches scared on the road and it's going to be predictable and infuriating all at once
  15. well i'll be damned.
  16. Rizzo was top-30 in BB rate; with him as with others, the suppression our OBP most of all was caused by a league-worst BABIP, which you can attribute to whatever you wish they've talked ad nauseum about working the count and controlling the strike zone, and their signings and trades so far have almost always reflect their prioritization of these things you can also imagine giving 1650 PA to current iterations of Soriano, Barney and Castro was never the FO's ideal situation, but one they remain active in attempting to address (trades, instruction for changes in approach)
  17. probably not, our new philosophy is instead to make outs
  18. sad stat: Castillo led the '13 Cubs in OBP (min. 300 PA)
  19. Castillo had a 2nd half where he hit .288/.388/.475, and graded out as one of the best defensive catchers in the game- i really don't envision him being moved, short of an involvement in a Stanton package also, JP Arencibia walks less than Castro and Alexei Ramirez; none of this is very believable to me
  20. i probably do Boykin & James i'm mulling over James & Ivory, currently
  21. take a moment and look at what Andy Dalton just did to the Lions secondary
  22. i started trying to determine exactly how much value Trout has delivered just on speed alone, and i immediately quit upon realizing it was higher than any Cubs position player produced on the whole
  23. is Hicks short for "Hakeem Nicks"? if so, then him, easily
  24. going to hockey games
  25. found a Rotoworld article, from 4/12
