  1. it was pretty irksome they aired it on a 15-minute delay, but WSOP tweeted out immediately as it happened that Riess had won
  2. Smart Football ‏@smartfootball "Did you order the code red?" RT @dkurtenbach: Dolphins coaches asked Ricky Incognito to "toughen up" Jonathan Martin http://touch.sun-sentinel.com/#section/1204/article/p2p-78065907/ …
  3. i'm staying up to watch it in hopes i'll finally be able to see a person in a Lions jersey winning something
  4. Outside of Zimmer/Ventura... who would be considered as "high end pitching prospects" in the Royals system? I imagine Almonte could be considered as one? Maybe Selman, but I wouldn't consider him as high end. So lets go with this... Shark/Barney/Scheirholtz for Cain/Herrera/Ventura/Zimmer What do you guys think? that's kind of a no-brainer, but KC swapping Zimmer for Almonte seems a much likelier scenario
  5. it's crazy how much their season has turned around since getting rid of Cam & Rivera
  6. for his two seasons as a starter, Samardzija's in the top-20 in all of baseball for xFIP, better than that of Verlander, Shields, Zimmermann and a host of other proven frontline starters the descriptive stats don't reflect so well on him which explains pessimism about his value (it's certainly worth wondering why he's allowed a .306 BABIP when the other Cubs starters have allowed .277 BABIP), but the Giants just gave Tim Lincecum 2y/$35M, which shows some executives place a ton of emphasis on defense-independent pitching for projection
  7. i got 181, and i feel good having not missed any multiples; 2001 by far was the hardest year the only really regrettable misses:
  8. hahaha, awesome
  9. Chip Kelly's still got it
  10. Narduzzi vs. Borges is a snuff film
  11. ‏@nickbaumgardner Kentucky's ability to simply call a kid 3 months before a decision and wipe out years of recruiting is incredible. pretty much, what a drag
  12. You're the one saying that Castillo would have to be the lead piece for Stanton, right? What if Giancarlo were coming with Salty? it goes without saying i'd be on cloud nine if those circumstances actually played out, but the point i was making was that i don't see much point at all - with our limited payroll - to be selling on Castillo unless it's a 'make us an offer we can't refuse' situation like Giancarlo but that isn't to say i have any delusions the Marlins will actually scout him as a key piece in Stanton talks, either speaking of Price... "One assistant GM proposes that the Rays could trade David Price to the Dodgers for Corey Seager, Joc Pederson, Julio Urias and Chris Withrow, Peter Gammons writes" here, "One assistant GM" certainly means RJ Harrison
  13. i'll lose my [expletive] if we sign Salty
  14. Chip Sylvie ‏@IllianaAAU Final tweet for a while: I just got a text. I can confirm Devin Booker will, indeed, commit to Kentucky today at 4 pm ET
  15. oh right, he's still in arb why the hell did Texas deny him arbitration? why does everybody hate this guy??
  16. so the Sox are going to get a ton of picks now too, right? they have these players hitting FA: Ellsbury Napoli Drew Saltalamacchia Uehara i think i'd QO every one of those; Ellsbury and Salty are no-brainers, i think- they'll both seek FA while they don't really have a place for him, Drew should stand to make much more in FA too and probably rejects the QO, and i think they'd like to have both Napoli (3.9 fWAR) & Uehara (3.3 fWAR, 3.8 RA9-WAR) back for 1/14 if you're prepared to do that, worst-case is getting 5 extra first-rounders...Jesus
  17. this is just crazy to think about “You could almost cover the [bleepin] lottery if in the preseason you go to Michigan, Michigan State, Kansas Kentucky,” one Western Conference NBA GM told SNY.tv. “I mean you basically almost got the lottery covered.”
  18. lol, in U-M's exhibition game vs. Concordia, Nick Stauskas was +103
  19. his 247 CB is still all UK, is there something you're hearing that's inspiring hope?
  20. how did i miss that he was basically the best pitcher in baseball, post-ASB?? Indians are sounding sure to give him the QO, FG crowd thinks he goes 4/49; that'd be tempting if we miss on Tanaka
  21. i'd trade him for Jonathan Gray and maybe Stephenson/Zimmer
  22. wow, autodraft did way the hell better than i would've
  23. i guess that involves speculating as to what available funds the FO has to work with but another way of looking at it, is would you rather give up a decent piece for Maybin and his 3/20 commitments, or take a chance on Chris B. Young for just money? fWAR, last 4 years Young (age 29): 2010 - 4.1 2011 - 4.5 2012 - 2.5 (363 PA) 2013 - 0.5 (375 PA) Maybin (age 26): 2010 - 0.5 (322 PA) 2011 - 4.2 2012 - 2.3 2013 - N/A, inj. sure, you have to like Maybin being nearer to his prime, but FG crowdsource believes Young will get 2Y/$13.6M which seems like it could be a better allocation of resources but what the hell, get both and trade Schierholtz; Sweeney & Bogusevic aren't the worst contingencies
  24. i thought about this for a while like a month back, but he's probably owed more ($20M) than we're likely willing to pay him and i don't know if i see SD picking up much i always prefer to gamble on upside though, so i'm game
  25. didn't he predict before the year Addison Russell & Baez would be the top two prospects?
