  1. i still expect Bryant makes the team out of ST
  2. in the summary it shows 10.3 defensive value, which is +4.1 actual defense and 6.2 positional adjustment i liked it better before, but they changed it for some reason; i continually get momentarily excited that Castro's D has progressed into a positive and am hit with the cold reality that it's just the positional adjustment tricking me
  3. he's only been judged to be +4 defensively, and his offense is nearly the exact C average (.237/.301/.387 vs. .246/.311/.380) he's lucky FG doesn't weigh framing, which he sucks at, and factors in things he's decent at: PB avoidance and CSs
  4. motion denied
  5. on a semi-related note, can i have Corey Kluber back
  6. i'm so excited; i'm so...scared
  7. assuming 600-650 PA apiece, i'd guess about 200
  8. how do i know if i've made it in
  9. top-50 for pitcher RA9-WAR since hitting the bigs in '12, ahead of guys like Samardzija, Ervin Santana, CJ Wilson i'm a fan how does he have a career 4.68 fip? HR generosity bases empty: 1.67 HR/9 men on base: 0.83 HR/9 FIP assumes those rates to be similar
  10. top-50 for pitcher RA9-WAR since hitting the bigs in '12, ahead of guys like Samardzija, Ervin Santana, CJ Wilson i'm a fan
  11. wow, that was one of the best fielding plays i ever remember seeing a pitcher make
  12. i've got 0.94 ERA / 0.84 WHIP since his first MLB inning
  13. Is Zips® the right projection to use for this purpose over Zips(U)? yeah, that's correct; ZiPS (U) is just the rest-of-season projection added onto current season stats
  14. from a month ago, but his wOBA projection's only dropped by .004 http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/the-top-10-prospects-currently-by-projected-war-3/ a full-season of his current ZiPS still amounts to a 2 win pace
  15. during the same time-frame you're referencing, Josh Harrison has been the best player in baseball (and Ryan Braun one of the 5-worst); it's not a terribly useful sample size projection systems still like him, and scouts still like him...sometimes players slump
  16. but there's no DH in the NL
  17. ah, there's the bat-flip i've been yearning for
  18. ZiPS has Logan Watkins for a 79 wRC+; with his speed and positional flexibility, that could actually make for a pretty useful utility bat
  19. This might be the dumbest thing asked on here since Da Bum left it's misguided to keep repeating that some of these prospects are sure to fail with the implication veterans are comparatively a sure thing; it's a point that's needlessly belabored it's been said before, but it warrants repeating that "minor league batting statistics will predict major league batting performance with essentially the same reliability as previous major league statistics" so let's talk about the veterans who'll flame out, too, like Schierholtz, Jackson, Sweeney, etc. have
  20. oh now you've done it
