  1. few things more irritating than walking singles hitters
  2. it could be something as simple as not being able to make the same effort, on every single pitch being thrown a player can give away at bats at the plate, so i don't know if it's unreasonable to wonder if they can do that behind the plate, or whether an ailment may prevent a receiving position that better sells calls
  3. lol. He had 1.4 over 468 PAs heading into this season. 1.9 in 93 now. also started out hot last year (.920 OPS in first half - 34 G) before tailing off (.637 in 2nd half - 50 G), but that may have been largely attributable to a lingering foot injury that kept him unable to play C will be really interesting to see how his season plays out
  4. the current MLB leader in WAR is somebody Beane acquired (from Andrew Friedman) with Cash Considerations
  5. 7th-worst in win probability added
  6. that FIP mixed with .360 babip equals a sub-replacement level pitcher who will lose you a fair amount of ballgames were that true (it's definitively not) it'd be even more aggravating that we were uninterested in exploiting an inefficiency, content to embarrassingly roster two hopeless castoffs and rely on a guy who's suffered a litany of arm problems in his young career
  7. Because their BABIPs are literally .500 and no predictive statistic could possibly expect that to continue? Coke's BABIP for the last 4 years is .360, worst in baseball no predictive statistic could expect 9.39 K/9 and 0 HR/9 to continue, either
  8. Coke has a low FIP and it doesn't really matter because he's the most hittable pitcher in baseball and has been ever since leaving the Yankees
  9. don't come crying to me when that 5.41 xFIP comes home to roost
  10. i [expletive] hate Phil Coke i [expletive] hate Jason Motte let's replace both please
  11. don't all "abilities" do that, though? i could say i'm skeptical of the value of HR because Marcell Ozuna ranked 5th amongst CF last year and is tied for dead-last this year edit: beaten to the punch
  12. 70% contact for the last week, this is something you basically expect to suffer with from the youngest player in the league and his track record doesn't give much reason for concern
  13. http://stream1.gifsoup.com/view7/3372511/richard-pryor-is-perplexed-o.gif
  14. we are really taking advantage of that FIP today
  15. notable cheater Jordan Walden unavailable for this series, after sustaining an injury likely due to his cheating method of pitching; it'd be a shame if his arm is destroyed
  16. Carl Edwards Jr's transition to the bullpen: http://www.milb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20150501&content_id=121494768&fext=.jsp&vkey=news_milb&sid=milb "I'm very confident [i can get back to 2013 numbers]," Edwards said. "I always feel like I start slow and get better as I get more and more comfortable. The more innings I get, the more innings I face, you'll see it's going to come back. I'm not even frustrated yet because I know what's coming."
  17. Gleyber Torres (18) is the youngest player in the MWL, yet he's in top-10 for wRC 8 of the top 10 are 22 years or older
