  1. Nice way to atone for his mistake. :D how many errors is he going to have at the end of the season (assuming full time duty)? I'd guess 35. I'd be more, but the Wrigley scorer is generous (should have had 1 or 2 yesterday). Why are you so critical of Cedeno? And where is this one or two errors he should have had yesterday? You are referring to his double clutches...your logic doesn't make sense. Wrigley grass slows down the ball, so if it was outside of Wrigley, the ball would have come to him faster and he would have had MORE time to throw, not less. Ronnie is going to be a very good defensive shortstop. He already has one of the best ranges of EVERY shortstop in the majors. He also has a cannon for an arm. he's a rookie...allow his tools to develop. I would say he'll have much less than 35 errors this year. Did you even watch the game? Cedeno did great at the plate and piss poor in the field. That's fine, but his label for a long time was a "glove only man." I expect more from our "slick fielding shortstop." OMG, "one of the best ranges of EVERY shortstop in the majors?" Get real.
  2. dude he's as bad as Jones offensively. I remember him coming up with a couple hits last year. Which puts him better than Jones. Fixed. Blanco raked in the second half. Post ASB: .318 .379 .518 .897

He'll have 20 easily though, if he starts 140+ games. I don't know. He's bobbled or double clutched just about every play. He's got to get used to charging the ball with Wrigley's long grass.

  5. Is jones capable of hitting an inside fastball? I haven't even seen him get a piece of one yet. I hate that long swing.
  6. speed puts pressure on the defense.
  7. looks like he's feeling the ball reasonably well.
  8. Edmonds is one of those rare players who truly deserves the hatred of an entire city. I heard that Edmonds kills babies.
  9. I want to see Z make Edmonds cry. He was close yesterday. 5 minute showers. Boo hoo.
  10. Is this game blacked out on MLB.TV? :(
  11. Good point. I like Hendry's trades for the most part. It's overpaying for bench players, relievers, and free agents that get me riled up. I wasn't big at all on the Howry, Eyre, or Jones signings...but I'll happily munch on some crow.
  12. BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
  13. Neifi readily admits that he's not good at hitting. He gets the starts b/c of his D. Whatever he does with the lumber is a bonus.
  14. Maddux knew the wind was blowing in a took advantage of it. I'm not sure how you can slam him for that saying that if the wind would've been blowing in, his numbers would be different. Different conditions call for adjustments.
  15. How many errors would Cedeno have had if yesterday's game wasn't in Wrigley? 2? Stop double clutching the damn ball and throwing into the runner, dude. It's nice to see him have a nice day with the bat though. I don't want to see Neifi everyday at SS.
  16. It takes time to remove the eyeliner. You're so insensitive.
  17. Geez, at least Jacque Jones can field his position.
  18. i thought peavy was injured. stoopid thread title. :D
  19. Um, I most certainly will not "get over it". Please don't ask me to. Why don't you whine about water being wet while you're at it. Neifi is on the team, with a 2 year contract no less. He's not going to ride the pine for 162+ games.
  20. I don't buy it. I'd love for someone to prove to me that the Cubs wouldn't have scored many more runs last year if Derrek Lee and Aramis Ramirez had better hitters hitting 1/2 in the order all season long. No guy with as many or more XBH's had less RBI's than Derrek Lee last year. And it wasn't even close. I'd be interested to see how far back Derrek Lee finished in the RBI race among 3rd place hitters who have had as high of a batting average or higher as he did in 2005. 1 game. Not that much impact, but could potentially have an impact. Over the couse of a season, like last year, huge impact. Read this. link
