  1. With Cedeno and Pierre up or Pierre on base and walker hitting?
  2. Woody's da man. When he comes back and dominates this season, I don't want to see any of the naysayers back on his bandwgn.
  3. I doubt the Cubs org. wants an admitted roids user in Wrigley.
  4. That sounds good to me. Then he'd have to stand in the box and answer for all the garbage he says.
  5. Just as we shouldn't project Ronny's hot start with the bat to continue through September, we shouldn't expect his cold throwing start to be representative either. I don't expect him to end up with 48+ errors, but that's how bad he is playing defensively. He was a lot better today. His throws were pretty much right on the money to Lee. Dude's got a cannon. Love the arm strength, but the accuracy needs a little work (a fixable problem).
  6. That's because you are a bad person. O:)
  7. I'm not sure what's strange; he was ineffective and as a result, sent down. It's not like he's a guy with a long track record to fall back on. Perhaps if the Cubs rotation was solid they could afford for him to find himself on the 25 man roster but, as it stands, they can ill afford to keep him around. Wuertz had one bad outing, that doesn't make him ineffective. People are getting hung up over his meaningless spring numbers and forgetting that he was an effective reliever with peripherals pointing towards him being even better this year. He had two iffy outtings. The first was his relief of Marshall in St. Louis. The second was in Pittsburg (0.0 IP, 2 ER). Add that to a horrible spring. Wuertz has the stuff, but it isn't there right now.
  8. In 4 AB today he raised his BA by 47 points (.214 to .261). :D
  9. the pitcher was scared of pierre in the dugout so he let todd walker hit a home run? Pierre led to the first run, but not the 2 run HR from Walker. Well, I guess if Pierre had made an out instead of singling and then successfully stealing 2B, Walker wouldn't have come up to bat in the 2nd (much less Ramirez, who drove in Pierre and scored a run on Walker's blast). I guess Pierre contributed to the first three runs by 1) scoring one of them, 2) bothering the pitcher while on base, 3) scoring a run, and 4) not making an out so Walker could come up to the plate. Well put, Meat. Good analysis of Pierre's contribution to the Cubs scoring in the first inning. I guess he didn't have to scare the pitcher from the dugout in order to make a difference in Walker's at bat. Walker likely wouldn't have had an at bat if it weren't for Pierre and the rest of the guys. Got to love first inning runs, especially on the road. hehe, except i repeated the same point twice.
  10. Sounds good to me. Jones is available off the bench. Mabry is going to be fine. Our bench is ok. We really do need an arm Dusty can abuse in the pen to take the load off Williamson, Eyre, Howry, and Dempster.

  12. This is Dempster's 7th appearance in 14 days, no? 7 appearances in 11 games? he isn't going to be able to keep up that pace for a full season. He's on pace for 109+ IP. Hopefully our starters go deeper into the game or we get some blowouts.
  13. I think the coaches feel the pressure to win these beginning games w/o Wood and Prior here to go deep into the game and dominate. They don't seem to be confident in our starters, so every lead we get after the 5th innings gets the best we have out of the pen.
  14. Yeah, it seems like Beane would make that trade as long as there wasn't a better offer on the table. Haha. Williams isn't that good. Look at what it took to land Mulder and Hudson. Well, IMO, Williams is equal to Haren and Zito is less valuable than Mulder or Hudson. I think Haren had a whopping 4.5+ K/BB ratio in pro ball at the time of the trade. Haren has better stuff than Williams and better control. He strikes out more hitters, walks less, and allows fewer baserunners. He is a far better pitcher than Williams is. Zito may or may not be less valuable than Mulder and Hudson, but in a poor FA pitching market, he's worth a lot. He's also a lefty, which increases his value to many clubs. Yeah, he probably will be overpriced, I agree. However, I evaluate pitchers based on ERA first and foremost, and Williams is actually better in that area. Williams has a better ML ERA. Haren has a much better minor league ERA (more innings to compare). Haren has one season under his belt. It's not exactly a fair comparison, IMO, since one bad game bloats ERA so much (compared to stats like WHIP, K/BB, and the more exotic stats).
  15. How many DPs have we had this season? last season? it seems like we're racking them up.

  18. What happened? [expletive] gave up a 3 run blast. lol..whatta nickname The sad part is that his teammates gave it to him.
