  1. I'm guessing Baker is thinking that playing 3B puts less strain on Nomar than playing SS. Plus this has the added effect of allowing Neifi to play SS while keeping Cedeno's butt firmly nailed to the bench. Why do the Cubs keep calling up Cedeno if he is going to ride the pine? :?
  2. The only move that makes sense is Neifi to 3rd and Ronny at SS...thus...it will never happen. Cedeno has a cannon compared to Neifi. I've watched the two play catch several times during pre-game warm ups. Cedeno has a gun that is almost always right on the money. Neifi throws rainbows that are all over the place. If Lee wasn't our 1B man he'd have a ton of throwing errors. There is a lot more to transitioning from SS to 3B than arm strength, but I think Cedeno would be a better fit (while ARam is on the DL obviously). At least he'd get regular playing time. Wait, I forgot about Macias. Please, Dusty, don't do it!!
  3. i think the fans treated CPat fairly well until this year. you get many chances to prove yourself if you have the talent. cpat just ran out of chances in many fans' opinions.
  4. yeah, there's a lot more baseball left...next year. sweet story though. :)
  5. There is an article on the cubs.com page about Nomar not going on the DL. :? http://chicago.cubs.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/news/article.jsp?ymd=20050824&content_id=1182002&vkey=news_chc&fext=.jsp&c_id=chc
  6. this inning should have been over. good game prior. our defense didn't help you much, with blanco being the notable exception.
  7. 2B Walker SS Neifi 3B Cedeno Cedeno certainly has the arm for 3rd. It may be the only way he can get playing time under Dusty.
  8. I think guys like Hank Aaron, LaTroy Hawkins and Willie Randolph would disagree with your statement. OK. Let them disagree.
  9. A black man making millions of dollars in the bigs doesn't have much credibility when whining about race issues. A poor black male living on welfare does have credibility. What a whiner (Bradley). If Bradley isn't a big enough man to put aside a few incendiary comments for the sake of the team, then he doesn't deserve to play baseball. If Kent can't keep his comments clean, then he shouldn't open his mouth other than to talk about baseball.
  10. I think Kent is only on contract through 2006 (owed 9.5M next year). We'd better not have to give up a lot in trade if we're going to eat that contract (in the event he is moved to the Cubs).
  11. I guess patience at the plate pays off, huh?
  12. quality AB from Aramis. that's how it's done, Dustrag.
  13. how do you get Neifi back in the backup role he belongs in? you get a younger starting SS that isn't injury prone. i love nomar, but i can't take another season of Dusty using his boy Neifi when Nomar goes down for most of the season with another injury. Furcal for starting SS. :D
  14. Lugo would be nice, but I don't think he'll be available. At 4.95M, he'll probably stay in Tampa or we'll have to give up a lot to get him via trade. Furcal at SS and Walker back at 2B would set our 1-2-3-4 in the lineup to be very solid. Walker's D is better than I expected, even if his range isn't great. Mmmm, Kevin Millwood looks good too. I'll pass on the Burnett hold up. Does anyone really think we can get Damon for 3 years, instead of 4-5 years, in this market? No Damon in Cubbie blue. CPat's performance this year really put us in a bind. Does he stay or go? Unfortunately, we'll probably see him blossom somewhere else after trading him for a couple scrubs. But hey, 2 scrubs are better than 1.
  15. that's neifi. swings at garbage and watches the bad ones right over the plate.
  16. that was one of the best things i've ever seen. McMichael did what we all want to do to the nice guys in blue.
