  1. that inning was looking good at the beginning. :?
  2. As Santo pointed out, you gotta expect that when you square around too soon. what? you can stand there all day showing bunt. throwing high and inside when the pitcher knows you're bunting is garbage. it's harder to move away from the pitch when squared up to bunt.
  3. Payback for hitting Bay ?? and then he almost earholes Williams when he squares around to bunt. :x
  4. Barrett is HBP after showing bunt. booooooooo
  5. I fail to see how Neifi is going to start so many games with a healthy SS who is on the books for around 8M (Furcal or Garciaparra...the latter with incentives if healthy for the whole season) and a much better hitter in T. Walker at 2B. If Cedeno is "starting," I can see Dusty pulling his usual garbage with Neifi. We've seen one season of Dusty misusing Neifi in Wrigley. The reason it happened is an injury to Nomar. I don't see any evidence to support the claim that Neifi will start 100+ games next year.
  6. guess what "certain manager" will be back to use neifi in the problematic way? if neifi is signed as a backup next year, he'll still get 2-3 starts a week under dusty. no, not really. the only reason Neifi started so much is b/c our starter went down for a long period of time. Dusty knows neifi's not a starter on a $100M team. You end up playing what you have. A healthy starter (be it Nomar, Furcal, Cedeno, other) puts Neifi back where he belongs...on the bench.
  7. http://www.southsiders.net/style_emoticons/default/banghead.gifhttp://www.southsiders.net/style_emoticons/default/banghead.gifhttp://www.southsiders.net/style_emoticons/default/banghead.gif What's the problem with Neifi as a backup? He's a solid backup, capable of solid streaks in the short term. It's usually in the long term (like this year b/c of Nomar's injury) that he declines. A certain manager's use of said infielder is the problem, not Neifi Perez.
  8. Z ends the inning with a K. 6 so far. :D
  9. there's plenty about nomar to rag on w/o making stuff up.
  10. hairston with yet another headfirst slide into first. geez.
  11. Brenly says Murton may be showing signs of playing irregularly. Dusty, time to call the booth and rag on him.
  12. what? he has a BB already...on four pitches. he hasn't made 4+ outs either.
  13. man, this team is good offensively when they're patient at the plate.
  14. what happened?? hbp on right forearm. still in game though.
  15. sit down mclendon. i hope cedeno is ok. :(
  16. i love Murton beating out the DP there. hustle counts in this game.
  17. If Nomar is willing to sign for $2M + incentives, I'd go with Nomar. Cedeno will be around to cover for the likely injury. Furcal really isn't that great of a SS, not for the money he is likely to command. We can make up more production by splurging on the OF (since our OF has been dismal this year). Giles will get more than $10M/year.
  18. Z is wincing. that's it. you're done for the day big guy. we need you next year.
  19. Sorry for the delay..... I lost my internet connection there for a minute. Garciaparra AB R H 2B 3B HR TB RBI BB SO BA OBP SLG OPS 08/05 - 08/31 68 11 23 4 0 4 39 8 3 7 0.338 0.370 0.574 0.943 thanks! wow. if he could just stay healthy...wow.
