  1. The Cubs, Angels and Dodgers all competing for the best hitter on the market? 5/75m
  2. I assume you root for the White Sox? There's nothing wrong with having a few teams you actively hate. What's the point of going to a bar to watch a game with a team you hate on TV? I mean I wouldn't go somewhere to watch a Cardinals, Pistons, or Viqueens game to waste money and root for a team to lose when my team isn't even in that game. Considering their White Sox fans perhaps they were going to be there anyway.

  4. It won't be missed. I know this for a fact.
  5. Wainright really needs to work on his change up to have success as a starter.
  6. Mike Matheny has the same issues and it looks like he might be out of baseball because of it.
  7. Looks like the Cards are going to get a taste of their own medicine this year. Pujols will lose to Howard (DLee lost to Pujols) and Webb will beat Carp (The Rocket lost to Carpenter). Oh well, I only crave a WS title anyway.
  8. I think Pierre will get 3\21 and Ramirez will get 5\75. The Dodgers are going to inflate Ramirez's contract.
  9. Michael Young might be the worst defensive SS in all of baseball. Really he should be playing 2nd base.
  10. He traded for Barrett.
  11. Right. How is he being "ruined?" Isn't he the best defensive 3rd baseman in the NL at this point? Are you serious?
  12. Why guess your worst pitcher? I believe he was joking.
  13. Pujols won the MVP last year.
  14. What kind of contract do you think ARam will get? What's the max you'd offer him? Since the inferior Carlos Lee turned down 4\48 you have to think ARam will command atleast 5\75.
  15. Juan E. in center in 07? It wouldn't shock me. What are you? Drunk? lol because you are. You know me all to well.
  16. Juan E. in center in 07? It wouldn't shock me.
  17. BTW, when I said that I was thinking of NSBB.
  18. Dewan ranked him 32nd out of 35 CF's. Not too good. What kind of defensive ranking has Jim Edmonds ranked as nearly the worst defensive centerfielder in the game? I hate Edmonds, but it's pretty silly (IMO) to say that he doesn't have a good glove. John Dewan's Fielding Bible is considered pretty authoritative. Michael is the person to ask if you want an explanation for why Edmonds is ranked too low. Michael did an interview with Dewan. FWIW, other metrics (PMR, UZR, Davenport, BBTF's zone rating) rank Edmonds from pretty average to pretty good, but not superior. I love you man. Yes, I think Edmonds is very overrated in terms of defense. His range most likely wasn't great in his prime and I think stinks now. That said, he has a very, very good arm. Link
  19. To be fair there is a precedent of mediocre starters becoming lights out closers. Mariano Rivera, Eric Gagne, etc... I'm not saying Dempster was a great gamble but it wasn't crazy.
  20. I was in a bar last night and I tried to explain to a few Cub fans I met why Baker destroyed Prior and Wood. They had none of it - "This isn't about Baker, they are both soft whimps". These guys were robbed of Cub greatness by a fool and they don't even know it.
  21. Players who still have options do not have to clear waivers in order for action to be taken on their contracts (e.g. to be sent down or, in this case, dealt). For instance, for the Cards Duncan or Wainwright could have been traded without ever having been subjected to waivers. edit - I might be wrong. From rotoworld.com:
  22. Gateway Redbirds is saying that ESPN is reporting San Diego. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/14573161/
  23. The Cardinals had not shot at Zito even before this Oswalt dea. Agreed! They are decreasing salary this off season... I think the Cards are done with former A's pitchers. That said their payroll is not going to decrease. I believe you are referring to an article by some hack in NYC.
  24. Considering Burnett's 5\55 deal this seems more than reasonable to me.
