  2. Soriano is yesterday's news, we have better things to talk about right now. Agreed. Hey everyone, I got engaged to a White Sox fan this weekend. True story! I fully expect to be B&. It would be a travesty if you were banned. Thanks. Our children will be violent and smug.

  4. For #2, the Honorable Bruce Miles said with some certainty that he would be playing RF. Are they committed to J. Jones in CF or is that just smoke and mirrors? Sorry if this has been discussed. Heh, considering the thread size I'm sure it has. I posted this before, but Kaplan said on SportsCentral last week that Hendry loved Murton, but he was almost certain that Jones would not be with the team in Spring Training. Thanks. Soriano not playing center really hurts the overall value of the deal for the Cubs. Replacing Juan P is a lot bigger then replacing Jones.

  6. The key questions so far... 1) Are there options? Are they player or team options? 2) Can he handle CF? 3) Is there a NTC?
  7. I heard on the radio that it's 6\90 with 3 option years. Is this true? If so, are they player or team options? Is there a NTC? Thanks in advance!
  8. I think that'll be the lineup next year. I bet JH will now turn his attention to SP pitching.
  9. The big question right now is his ability to play CF.
  10. I'm pretty sure Boston is going to put in a 32m bid for this guy.
  11. There's no "next in line" about it. It's either Boston or back to Japan. I had read that if the comish doesn't think Boston made a contract offer in good faith bidding would go to the next team.
  12. I wonder if the Sox will now low ball since they know the yanks aren't next in line.
  13. Oswalt should have won, I think.
  14. why? He's a top starter, he's 28. While I wouldn't sign him to that contract, it wouldn't surprise me at all if someone did. I think he'll get truckloads of money, but if he gets seven years, I'll be surprised. Even in the current market. Also isnt there something with insurance purposes with contracts over 5 years for pitchers? It's worse, you can only insure a player for 3 years.
  15. Have there been rumblings Washington wants to deal these guys?
  16. If you set up a "Google webmaster tools" account (free) you can choose to slow the crawl rate.
  17. I don't think it's overreacting when it looks like a player like A-Ram leaves your team to test a weak FA market that's flush with cash. If a player wants to test the FA market then it's reasonable to assume he going to want full market value. The freak out was completely justified and understandable. But that's just my opinion.
  18. No one is saying otherwise, are they? No, but you and others are acting very condescending about this. Even with Ramirez signed, it might still be best to consider rebuilding if we don't land at least a couple of the premier guys on the market. I thought it was a bit premature to assume that Ramirez hadn't signed and wouldn't sign. Yes, there was one report on FoxSports.com. But it was far from definitive and there was no word from either Kinzer or the Cubs on the subject. Without waiting until Sunday to find out if anything got done at midnight the night before, the assumption was made that not only did the Cubs not resign Ramirez before he hit the open market, but that there was no chance of him returning even after he did. This is faithless, overreactionary stuff. And those that participated in it, like predicting a Cubs loss in a game thread when it turns out they won, deserve a little razzing. If you think I and others are being condescending, I invite you to read some of the remarks I get when I post something positive about the Cubs that is supported by facts and that some people on this board disagree with. This is razzing, Tim, but if you think it is inappropriate, so be it. Rotoworld and ESPN.com were also reporting it, that's really not an assumption. I think the reaction was based on what seemed at the time to be solid information.
  19. I don't even want to consider his defense in 08. His range is horrible now.
  20. They shouldn't have ever said that in the first place. Under Williams the Sox have never had a losing season.
  21. So, do you think Encarncion is on the bench? There are rumblings he's out the door because he's fallen out of favor with management. The fact that he didn't even show up to the WS celebration speaks volumes. Does he have much trade value? He hit 278/317/443 last year. The OBP is bad, while the average is respectable. His OPS+ was 94 which is really bad for a corner OF. He still has 2 years and 11.5 million left on the contract. My guess is the Cardinals may have to eat some of that to move him. Yep, I suspect they're willing to do that. We shall see, this is a crazy time for rumors.

  23. RF - Duncan LH CF - Edmonds LH LF - Gonzo LH hmm...
