  1. He just had a fantastic 10 pitch PA in which he should have been on 1st.
  2. I guess what I'm saying is that they both slot in perfectly with Fowler leaving and Ross retiring. I think this lineup is tailored perfectly to allow a guy like Almora to break into the majors.
  3. I still say Soler is going to be a monster by July.
  4. I can't articulate how happy I am that Albert has come around. Adding Contreras and Almora into the 2017 lineup is a beautiful thing.
  5. Give me Salazar over any of them. I've been watching him when I can and it sure seems like he is taking that next step toward Arrietaville. Ridiculously hard to hit and almost impossible to take deep. He's got a couple Cy Youngs coming. Arrieta Salazar Lester in the playoffs with this lineup and it's all over.
  6. 3 years from now he'll be 25.
  7. Now it's time for Javy to do what he was born to do. If Soler isn't going to be giving dong lessons 2x a week as I thought he would, then I'd like to see Baez blow up and take this offense to the omega level.
  8. Yep, this team is winning 100+. I feel bad for the angels.
  9. By having a log with hands trying to guard PnR. Unfortunately that old log is "part of the core" and will likely get re-signed using all the extra 2016 cap space. I swear, Dusty Baker would fit right in with the think tank running this team.
  10. When that happened it felt like I was watching one of those movies where some talentless kid gets superpowers. Then he did it again. I was out of my seat. The Wizards have to be humiliated right now.
  11. All reports were that Sac was pushing the deal until the last minute. It was GarPax that nixed it.
  12. I don't necessarily disagree with you. I just think he's light years beyond what Hoiberg will ever be.
  13. Butler Boozer Belinelli Deng Noah Hamilton Robinson Taj Teague Hinrich Nazr Cook Thibs won 45 games and a playoff series with that roster. Keep in mind that's 8.6 PPG Jimmy. That team was 23rd in Ortg. Now they are 25th. Thibs has faults but he makes players better and holds players accountable. Hoiberg can not get upset or he will literally die.
  14. There is virtually no offense being run at all, so I'm not sure how anyone can say it would be worse under another coach. The player's would be worse at basic PnR? Isos? That's all they've been running out there, all season long. I agree that Hoiberg has a mess in his kitchen, but he's also a lousy chef.
  15. Don't get me wrong, I also think his performance has been disappointing. I just think a major part of that has been Hoiberg, his rotations and the role he has asked Niko to play in the offense. The top Bulls lineup (Net Points, >100 min) has Niko at the 4. Put him at the 3 and other teams are guarding him with smaller, faster guys, which would be fine if Hoiberg would let him post-up more, but with Taj and Pau at the 4 and 5 he's not getting many opportunities to do that. So you end up with him just disappearing for large stretches.
  16. Mirotic has been very good as a 4.
  17. With this team, I'll take it. I liked Moore starting at the 2. Been hoping they might try that.
  18. Or it could be to a non or fringe-contender that could pick up flexibility by offloading years. I happen to have one in mind that could work. Rose + Sac pic + Bulls 2017 1st for Omer Asik and Tyreke Evans. Asik is dead weight, has 5 more years at 9+mil and I'm sure NO would appreciate that flexibility for AD's prime years. Rose is a better gamble where there is an excellent backup PG (Jrue) The pelicans don't look to be close to contending for the duration of Derrick's contract, but it's not like a return to form would be wasted if it did happen, as AD + 90% Rose would be formidable.
  19. Love the fact that Portis is playing so well basically on instinct and energy. Still a lot of room for fundamentals. Ceiling is pretty high.
  20. Well they had better get major production form Grichuk and Piscotty because they aren't going to leave runners on at the ridiculous rate they did this past season. Even projecting good health, I could see them winning only ~85 games.
  21. .290/.325/.485, in the lineup everyday by May, either as the full time 2B or moving around.
  22. I think the comments are directed at his teammates. He's frustrated that some guys are playing half-assed and getting away with it. Hoiberg is probably scared to reprimand Pau when he doesn't defend the pick and roll properly or Rose when he walks the ball up the floor after being asked to play with pace because he's a first year coach and they are established stars. I think Butler's been trying to be a vocal leader but some of the vets aren't really responding. At some point, laid back or not, a coach has to hold guys accountable.
  23. Trying to tweak the team to get an extra win or two by giving up a ceiling like Soler's does not strike me as prudent. Not for a team that projects to win so many games already. The Cubs will make the playoffs and have a good shot when they get there. I just shudder to think of Jorge locked in like he was to end the season in the middle of another lineup.
  24. Yeah, I'm bummed. For better or worse, Castro made me feel like I was rooting for more than just laundry. He was always a Cub. I desperately wanted to see him win it all here. Still, I'm handling it better than my 5 -year-old who, through the sobbing, demanded I call Theo and insist that he get Starlin back right now. God help me he'll go Linda Blair if they trade Baez.
