  1. Tanking is a much more prevalent and obvious thing now. Jed wants to lose games. Heyward makes that more likely. He’s fine with it. This doesn't make any sense. It's not the NBA. Playing Velazquez over Heyward isn't going to improve the Cubs record, and if by some miracle Velazquez put up 3 WAR or something then the value of that would massively outweigh the difference between the 6th and 7th pick.
  2. I remember when I thought this was a Dusty thing. Giving tons of PAs on a non-contender to washed-up vets who aren't contributing and who are past the point of salvaging any trade value. I know Jed understands the sunk cost fallacy. I know he values ABs for the young guys. I've never heard any good argument for this horsefeathers.
  3. The Pirates outhit the Cubs by 1 and outscored them by 11. That's got to be close to a record.
  4. Feels like it's about time for some A to A+ promotions, as well.
  5. Giving Jason Heyward and Andrelton Simmons PAs on this team is so obviously bad for the organization, nevermind the fans.
  6. He had a good game (2B, HR) since you posted this, but I'm really excited that he went from 1 HR in 235 AB to 4 HR in 130 AB, while increasing his BB % from 2.5% to 13.5%. I feel like that's great progress and I already liked him more than Howard.
  7. With his age, tools, and production.. Hyperbole doesn't exist. Alright then, he's the best prospect in the organization
  8. I have some thoughts about Alcantara, but I don't want to be accused of hyperbole.
  9. A couple of days ago he hit a fly ball to the outfield and yesterday he had a single. That's his equivalent of Sosa's June of '98.
  10. Did that base hit from Simmons double his OPS?
  11. Seems like good news to me.
  12. Just browsing minor league leaders on Fangraphs, looking at BB/K and BB% for ARL guys and came across this freak: Emmanuel Rodriguez (MIN) 19 yo OF in A ball. Came into the season as the 25th ranked prospect in the Twins org. 199 PAs. 28.6% BB (!!!) 26.1% K .272/.492/.551 That walk rate is unbelievable. And he's 19. The twins are in 1st and could use a catcher....
  13. Simmons OPS is .347 I don't even know what to say about that
  14. You've got to love the team that was created to fix the RISP problem setting the franchise record for RISP futility.
  15. Some sort of injury. Appeared to be his shoulder.
  16. OBP Frazier .356 Simmons .196 and that's Simmons' best stat
  17. They can't keep playing him
  18. Best news of the season. He's going to be a good one.
  19. Cubs have hit rockets everywhere and have one run. Can't win the division that way.
  20. It's funny, these situations where infield defense is critical are the ones I most miss the old team. Having Rizzo and Baez on the infield, I always felt pretty good about them. And, yep.
  21. Thought I'd have to wait until July or September to see Velazquez. I've been a big fan for a while and this is easily the most exciting news of the season so far. Hope Kilian isn't far behind.
