  1. Then it must be up to whether or not we can sign Furcal, since only one of them is a leadoff hitter.
  2. Depending on what the backup plan is, I'd agree. I don't like thinking about what plans B and C might be.

  4. Maybe it's just leverage against Damon or something.
  5. I'm really hoping Murton showed enough to Dusty in his 150 AB's to warranty a much longer leash than previous rookie position players.
  6. BBB, Mota was sent to Boston along with Beckett and Lowell. They got him added in for nearly nothing.
  7. I remember that. Wasn't is because they wanted to make room for Delino F. DeShields?
  8. i understand florida doesnt want cp but the nats might take him in a package for wilkerson. pierre was rumored to be going for 3 minor leauge pitchers and who knows if/when that might go down. i think alot of things hing on where furcal signs as far as the cubs are concerned. Maybe Washington would want him, but there's no chance he's the centerpiece of any deal. What's much more likely is that he'll be sold for cents on the dollar at the Winter Meetings or during ST.
  9. agreed. if you're going to spend assets, spend them on something good.
  10. Preston Wilson = bad. Please no. I'd take Wilson if Hendry get Arebu or Giles for right. What's more likely is what some had hypothesized all along: That a Wilson signing would be coupled with a Peirre trade and they'd call it an offseason.
  11. You do realize that Florida won't want Patterson? He'll make at least $2.5m this season, and the idea of the exercise is to completely dump salary. They'll probably want Greenberg before Corey.
  12. You'll just have to take my word for it. That's really Bruce. It was really Len Kasper, too. And Jim Callis. And, well, you get the picture. But how do we know you're really Tim? How do you know you are really you? I wear a nametag at all times We are really desperate for anything to happen now. We have gone down to the depths of not knowing who anyone really is. How do we know that everyone on this earth is not just multiple personalities of a single person and that everyone we see is just a figment of that person's imagination? SCARY really if you think about it... I don't think philosophers have ever been able to prove that there is any objective reality, have they? Maybe Aquinas. Maybe. I'll have to find my book to look it up, but most argue for the concept of subjectivity and relativity when it comes to the world around us. Philosiphers would make lousy baseball scouts/GM's. I thought Aquinas' argument relied upon the presence of God. Yeah, but if your philisophical belief system is rooted in a tangible life and then afterlife, it would follow that the universe that mkaes up the earth would be a tangible, objective thing, right? I'm trying to thumb through my "Law, Morality and Politics" right now.

Like that movie about the guy's identity, and how he had different identities all stuck in a motel while a psychiatrist tried to figure out which identity was the real identity? I think it was called, The Motel That Was Open Late At Night In The Rain. Excellent simpsons steal with a slight modification. you're disingenuine, I like that! And you too, sir! Well played...I almost didn't catch it.

  16. I think he did an interview with them. probably the second best interview he did all year, imo. What was the first? :P I kid, I like Len.
  17. Yeah, I remember that. IIRC I think it was against the Mets.

  20. It doesn't help that they didn't really throw one deep ball all game. When the defense can key in on a 15-20 yard bubble it's probably harder to be accurate. The interception was a reasonably deep pass....30 yards or so. And it was also a stupid route and a bad play by Gage. I would *love* to see them run a post pattern just once. Or maybe a couple crossing routes downfield, but Turner obviously has no faith in Orton. If they are going to play Grossman, then that decision has to be made early in the week so he can practice an entire week. I'm not keen on counting on a guy who hasn't played an NFL game in 14 months to come in off the bench and produce.

  22. That's also something that they're not really supposed to do, btw. Unless they took those pictures themselves, those were almost certainly copyrighted images. Sound like a reputable website. That charges $80 for members. Isn't there a word for something like that?
