  1. $20 says the player who said an MLS team would get relegated was Gerrard.
  2. Interesting ESPN.FC surveys out from MLS players. I have to say, I agree with Mix being overrated.
  3. If Herc fills the Chad Barrett supersub role, cool. Otherwise, he doesn't solve the midfield issue or the pace issue up front.
  4. Letting Neagle, Martins, Barrett and Pappa go and replacing them with (essentially) Morris and a bunch of homegrowns is not a recipe for success. Ivanschitz is the business, but Friberg and Valdez are just mehhhhhh. They have been bringing Aaron Kovar and the guy from St. Vincent off the bench as their game-changing subs. That's bad.
  5. It's almost as if their entire attack was to let Clint and Oba combine and improvise and then they sold half of that equation a week before the season. Not just that, but refusing to just replace Oba with Morris and instead trying to shoehorn an ill fitting 4-3-3 with a guy like Valdez who just does not fit with that team. Great hold up play, but no pace and no ability to combine in tight spaces. They're losing the midfield battle and neutering their attack all at once. Sit Valdez, play another midfielder (maybe play Evans in his natural spot instead of shoehorning him around the backline when he's healthy) and just let Clint and Morris combine. Use Valdez as cover for international breaks and for an extra attacker against a packed in defense.
  6. Jurgen has called in two injured guys (FJ and Jozy) and three terrible ones (Alvarado, Castillo and Zardes).
  7. He's been the worst ref in the league and one of the worst in CONCACAF since Brazil 2014
  8. Seattle is 0-3 after Mark Geiger gifted Vancouver one PK and called another. And Clint missed a complete sitter.
  9. I think they were good value for that 1-0; Oshazaki should have had at least 1 more at the start of the second half, and for all Palace's pressure in the final 15 their best chance fell to a central defender. Alan Pardew is not a good coach. He did this same "start strong and then lose a thousand straight games" at Newcastle. Yeah, they weren't bad by any means, but they probably should have only taken 4 points from the two games. Newcastle showed better than Palace, I thought. Newcastle were unlucky; 3 training sessions with Benitez had them looking night and day better.

  11. I was following the MBM on the Guardian for the other game, saw the headling and misread "Suarez" as "Sanchez" and got momentarily excited.
  12. Good god please let Arsenal luck into a 3-0 win or a 2-0 and shootout win. I'm so sick to death of Barcelona.
  13. That sequence at the end of the Arsenal-Watford game was bonkers. Also, Harry Kane looks like Neville Longbottom.
  14. Oba's cap hit was anywhere from $228k to the $457k max cap hit for a senior DP. I'd assume they'd have that, along with TAM to play with to bring in another player. Unless they're going to ride with what they have until the summer and then try and bring in someone at that point. In the 3 games played this year, Frei has let in some soft goals. It should be cause for concern.
  15. They really need to get Torres back so they can use Evans' flexibility more. Right now the alternative to Evans is Zach Scott, which is to say there is no alternative. They probably need to use the DP spot vacated by Martins sooner than later too, getting a two way midfielder would go a long way to take pressure off Alonso that Friberg and Roldan cannot relieve. Agreed on Jones, he looked really good. Fisher looked really good defensively before he got sent off too. Yeah, Evans is a versatile guy, but he's not a CB and as much as Sigi thinks of him as a swiss army knife, his presence there kills them. When he brought Scott in and moved Evans to RB and Roldan up, that was finally putting those guys where they should be, IMO. Torres is still like a couple months away, though, right? They should use some of the Oba money on a guy like Chris Schuler. He's not expensive, still a FA, and would be a really useful 3rd CB when everyone's back.
  16. Seattle needs to stop playing Brad Evans at CB, because he's not a CB, and they probably need him more in the midfield. There was a Real Madrid-esque gap between Clint, Morris and Valdez (who is not a good fit with Clint and Morris) and Alonso is just too positionally undisciplined to parter him with Roldan. Jovan Jones, though, is going to end up being a real weapon for them down the left side.
  17. 5 points clear with 9 to play. And don't look now but West Ham have to be considered an outside shot at top 4 now. Amazing. Spurs and Leicester in the CL next year. Bonkers.
  18. I dunno. I feel an Arsenal win coupled with LCFC would have been the better outcome. That was a weird game though; Arsenal probably still should have won it but Ramsey waited to shoot and Wimmer made a great play to tackle it away
  19. Honestly, I think Stilliano's a giant douchekabob and his saying that Leicester is a club nobody cares about and shouldn't be in the CL is garbage. They earned their spot and with the Sky TV money coming in, more parity is nothing but a positive for the BPL. I'd rather watch leagues like MLS where teams can enter into the season with a shot at a title than the giant snoozeathon that is the Bundesliga, La Liga or Ligue 1.
  20. That's fantastic. Some of the MLS/USMNT guys' twitter game is on point.
  21. Seattle gets a lucky own goal to take a 3-2 aggregate lead at Azteca in the 41st minute so of course they cough two up before the half
  22. It's also worth noting that Joel Campbell started and scored today for Arsenal, and instead of yanking the completely ineffective Alexis Sanchez for Welbeck, Wenger pulled Campbell.
  23. Also, I know Citeh has a game in hand but Man United is now even on points for 4th despite being fricking terrible all year long. Which is really just my way of saying that that Manchester City team is a colossal waste of money. If Yaya Toure were an American athlete playing one of our big 3 sports he'd be the subject of ohsomany scorching hot takes about how lazy and fat and selfish he is.
  24. If LCFC open up a 6 point lead thanks to an Arsenal win, they are going to win the title barring catastrophe (like Jordan Henderson getting a dumb straight red, Gerrard slipping, and blowing a 2-goal lead to Palace type turn of events). But don't worry. This Arsenal team is done. They aren't winning at WHL.
  25. If today's results hold it's really going to be a 2 team race, because Liverpool are busy making sure City pull a 2004 Cubs, and Arsenal are confirming how soft as hell they are. They are just never going to win the league again so long as Wenger is there and refuses to address the glaring holes that have been in that team for a decade.
