First of all, a total bush effort by Venezuela. I'm embarrased that we played them. No class shown whatsoever. Convey was really, really good, again. Of course, the class of opponent had something to do with this, but good things happen when you run at defenders with pace, and he did this. Solid job. He's going to really challenge Beasley, who did very little in his 30 or so minutes on the field. Dempsey was good, as usual. Not as eye opening as Convey, but solid. Scored his goal well, and I love the little moves he has. It's nice to have a US player show a creative spark. I want him starting. The ESPN Brian Ching Lovefest continued tonight. The way the announcers talked about his goal you'd think he did a double bike diving header into the upper 90. His goal wasn't that impressive, and considering he had about 8 other chances to score or send Johnson through and failed every time, I can't think of him as anything more than a backup. Johnson was relatively useless, again. He showed flashes, like on the assist to Dempsey, but he's not consistent at all. Wolff was his usual useless self. Heaven help us if Landon gets hurt. Donovan was ok. Generated the 2nd goal, but not really noteworthy. Howard was pretty good tonight, too, as was Gooch. Bocanegra's red card was a joke, and the defense was ok, but playing an offside trap can burn you against teams with better players. I'm still nervous about the defense. I'd give it a 6. For real this time. I look forward to seeing the actual starters against Latvia on Sunday.
