    I could have sworn Baker said he wants Ramirez to play 3B this weekend, so maybe Walker DH's with Mabry at 1st and Hairston or Bunty McNoTalent at 2nd.

    Kind of makes you think about that prospect's accusation about how Hendry treated him. Not to say Jim did ruin his career, but he comes across as a decent guy in most interviews, but it's coming out that he's much more of a jerk we might have thought. Which may affect more aspects of his job than we realize. If he's a jerk, it can affect all manner of negotiations.

    That's just stunning. I cannot believe how screwed up this organization has become in 3 short years. I'm embarrased to be a Cubs fan right now. That's the kind of behavior that should never, ever happen. They have no business telling the media what to report.

    Actually, yeah. I think it does. Jones' plays were stupid, but at least they were reaction-type menal errors. Perez actually thought bunting was a good idea, which makes it worse. Perez had time to consider it and then actually did it. Not that what Jones did is excusable, because it's still pretty stupid. This is just incomprehensibly dumb.

    We'll have the DH... you know Dusty will find a way to get Neifi into the lineup. If ARam was okay enough to PH today, he'll be okay to DH tomorrow.

    That's one of the dumbest Cub-related moves I've ever, ever seen. And that's saying something. He knew it was a 2 run game, right? And that there were 2 outs?

    90+ minutes in the rain playing at that high of a level really knocks you out. Especially consideing Arsenal were down 1 the whole game and under pressure, and Barca were pressing after a while to get the equalizer. Also, I think that after the 2nd goal, any excitement Barca had was tempered after waiting 12 minutes with really no threat from Arsenal. If the Gunners had threatened, the celebration might have been more wild. As it was, given the officiating and the resulting man advantage for 70 minutes, had Barca not won it would have been an epic choke.

    I'd give you play by play but I wouldn't have much to offer other than guy in red kicked it to another guy with funny hair, then a guy in yellow got in his way, people fell down and pretended to be hurt, then got up. And a guy just gave himself a standing ovation for coming off the field. Yeah, us soccer players love being appreciated. Even if we're the only ones who appreciate ourselves.

    Barca really imposing their will on this game...according to GameCast, anyway. I hate the fact that I can't watch these games live.

    Good for you. Jones is your guy. There's nothing wrong with it. Jones isn't "my guy." I don't love him but at the same time I don't hate him. Believe me, there are a number of players that have been in a Cubs uniform that I have disliked more than Jones and a number that I have liked more than Jones. He is definately not "my guy." So you have no issue with Jones being mediocre/bad, because that's all you expect of him, and you expect more from Ramirez and Pierre?

    Good for you. Jones is your guy. There's nothing wrong with it.

    You keep asking this question like no one has answered you. He's got 3 years of really good performance as a Cub under his belt. People know this. People know he started slow last season. People are confident he'll be where he needs to be when all is said and done. No one is absolving him from his share of the struggles, but most people have more faith in a proven player than a player or players that have been proven mediocre. Regarding Dempster, they were booing team performance and the fact that the team was going to lose again, not necessarily Dempster. This is not a difficult concept. Over time, good performance will earn you the benefit of the doubt for a while. If he's still struggling into June, I'm sure he'll get booed.

    No way 1 goal stands, with them down a man with this much time left. Still impresive they were able to score at all. That goes to show how dangerous set-piece opportunities are in soccer.

    So FIFA's new rankings came out today. If I'm not mistken, the US has not played a match since the last batch came out. If they have, they won it, but I can't remember. Anyway, the new rankings have Mexico ahead of us at #4, and we're tied with someone at #5. Now, even I think we're too high at #5. But, unless FIFA is moving every one of Mexico's WC games to the Azteca, there is no universe that exists where Mexico should be ranked higher than us.

    He gets a pass because since he's been a Cub he's been really, really good. He's built up enough benefit of doubt. Jones had been bad for 3 years, and hasn't been good with us. So ARam carries no blame for the current funk because he's been good before? Gee, that make sense. Everyone on the team is responsible for this start. However, Aramis will very likely rebound. We have 3 years of track record to go on. Jones doesn't have anywhere near that ability or track record. Combine that with his contract, his idiotic baserunning and whining anout fans, and there you go.
