    That's not a bad read by Rex, though. He just overthrew him by about a step. A deep pass to Moose on 3rd and 2 in that situation is not the play call I want to see. Some decent pressure so far. I see what you're saying, in that it would have been better to pick up the 3rd and short, but if Moose doesn't stumble, or Rex sees the stumble and adjusts, it's a TD pass. It's hard to fault that read. Nice pressure and pick!!

    I thought he was who the Cubs should get for Maddux if they didn't get a prospect. I've always kind of liked him as a player. I would not mind him on this team as a cheap 4th OF at all, although I wonder why he's bounced around so much over the last 4 seasons.

    Well they definitely could still want Izturis. and what else? nothing we got. perhaps another pen arm, but I don't think Izturis plus a pen arm gets it done. Yeah, I don't think Westbrook is a likely option any more.

    Do we think Jones will be platooned? As of now, I'm leaning towards no. However, if we get rid of Jones and acquire Nixon, the positive will be that there is a much better chance he will be platooned, since he already has been used in that situation for a few years. If we keep Jones, isn't he going to be a CF? Nixon can't play CF. Any platoon that Nixon is in will be with Murton, which is uneccesary.

    If we were going into 2007 and Soriano was going to play CF, Nixon would be an upgrade over Jones, but both have pretty drastic splits. I don't see a fit here, although I like Nixon.

    even schmidt? padilla is younger, likely chealper and with less of an injury history.

Padiliia is a power pitcher, with less of an injruy history,. Lilly has been on and off the DL durnig his career. i'd erather thrown money at padilla than lillly. if coruse, if prior is acvtually alive, he's better tnan all of them.

    I don't think pitch count was the problem in game 6 :( It would have helped to have a little more snap in the breaking ball, or a little more jump on the fastball.

    Whats funny is that the Alou incident set the stage for 2004 for be an absolute pressure cooker right from the start, and what should have been a 95 win team melted down in the end.

    If that's true, that contract sucks.

    I can when the player in question had less to do with it than every other starting position player and pitcher on the roster.
