  1. Wow. I don't think we're that bad, but damn.
  2. Every time he opens his mouth something stupid comes out of it. I suppose, though, if you didn't count Manchester United, Chelsea, Liverpool, Arsenal, Tottenham and Reading, then yeah, MLS teams could compete. you forgot bolton, portsmouth, and newcastle (with a healthy owen) on that list. Also Everton. Well, pretty much everyone that doesn't get relegated at the end of the season. Mmmm, even those teams, mostly. The MLS would have been competitive with Watford this year. Maybe. I don't think all of the MLS teams would have been able to compete even in the Championship League in England. Sunderland is better than all of the MLS sides. I can think of about 12 different leagues that MLS is worse than, top to bottom. There are good individual players in MLS, sure, but the try and make the case Lalas is making is just silly. 12 leagues, eh? let's give it a shot: Premiership (England) Bundesliga (Germany) Serie A (Italy) Serie A (Brazil) La Liga (Spain) Ligue 1 (France) Primera Division (Argentina) Superliga (Portugal) Eredivisie (Netherlands) Primera Division (Mexico) Premier Super League (Turkey) I've got 11 that are head and shoulders above the MLS. And there's a ton of other leagues that have top teams that no MLS team could touch (SPL, Russia, Romania, Greece, CC Championship to name a few). I'd put the SPL as the 12th League. Hearts, Rangers and Celtic could field 2 teams each better than the 1st choice best MLS team.

  6. This is from Peter King. The SI-Rex Grossman Hatred Parade Continues. I dont care that Grossman is a bear. I want him to piss all over the league, next year. I want him to go bananas. I never personally rooted for another player in any sport like I do for him now. He will. Sexy Rexy's got the arm. The dragon. You gotta unleash the dragon.
  7. Canada is probably the most "in-form" team, but talent wise they're the worst of the 4 semifinalists. Their attacking players are pretty good, but their defense is terrible. They sound just like the US but in-form like you said ;-). At least Howard has seemed pretty good so far. I think our mids are better, actually. At least defensively, anyway. Beasley, Feilhaber, Bradley and Mastro at least usually close off the center of the field. Hejduk shouldn't play anymore. He crosses like a high school freshman. Gooch and Bocanegra are a calamity back there. They need to communicate a lot better come qualifying. Bornstein was the tallest midget on Saturday. There's talent in the US pool. Between Cherundolo, Parkhurst, Demerit, Simek, Pearce, Spector, Bocanegra and Oneywu, Bradley should be able to find 4 guys who can not mentally break down 3 times a game.

  9. Yes, but he has a soccer guy over Noc in his sig? Pretty easy choice  The player in my sig equals the awesomeness of Noc. Trust me. Anyone who does the "Carlton Banks" dance after scoring a goal deserves his propers.
  10. I don't get the Bradley thing. Feilhaber seems ahead of him as far as tactical ability. That said, neither one of them really wows me. They both seem to have a Reyna-esque quality about them, and I hate me some Claudio Reyna. That leads me to an observation. I know it's just CONCACAF jokers we've been playing lately, but doesn't it seem that the US attack just seems much more dangerous than it did a year ago? We've generating chances even against packed in defenses, switching fields, playing nice combinations to send guys free...it's just the finishing that seems to not be there. Is it Bradley letting these guys play a more free flowing attacking style, the fact that Reyna isn't there slowing everything down, or the opposition? Or is it a bit of both? +1 on Jozy Altidore, and an additional shout out to Gabriel Ferrari. Very much looking forward to those two. i'm very glad he's decided to play for the u.s. Yeah. Big difference living here until age 17 or 18 and leaving at age 12 or 13 like Rossi, though. We had no shot with Rossi. His family pretty much pushed him towards Italy right away.

  13. miniature American Flags for all? No, for others. sorry, you failed the Simpsons quote. the correct answer was: "Abortions for some, miniature American Flags for everybody!" No, the actual quote is "Abortions for some, miniature American flags for others". So I win. My knowledge of the Simpsons is unrivaled.

  15. Remember, when you are sealed in the voting cubicule, that we must move forward, not backward, upward, not forward, and always twirling, twirling, twirling towards freedom!

  17. I watched maybe twenty minutes of it and Hejduk still sucks. 11 cards issued overall. It looked like a brutal game to watch. It was. None of the field players put together a complete game. Donovan and Dempsey probably played the best of the outer 10, but each made horrible decisions in front of goal and neither really was consistently good for any length of time. Dempsey's play in the 18 made me cringe. All he had to do was make a simple shot and he tried to deke the keeper and he got dispossesed. He's really lucky Panama didn't equalize. Donovan's 2 clear chances made me curse. He's so damned useless sometimes. He should have had 3 goals. And I won't even comment on Taylor Twellman. At least they (Dempsey and Donovan) connected on the play that led to the PK. That was an awesome pass and awesome run. Beasley showed why Donvan should stop taking free kicks. Hejduk SUCKS. The back 4 are going to get lit up against a side with any quality attacking players. They were so, so bad. Th ref was awful, and Panama embarassed themselves. The game on Thursday should be mighty interesting. Canada has some really good attacking players.
  18. Deng, Gordon and the #9 for Kobe.
  19. All I'm going to say is that every player not named Tim Howard was bad today, and I'm glad the game is over and we won.
  20. Tree is the ginchiest.
  21. Thank you for all of your support. I am looking forward to an orderly 2nd round matchup, which will eliminate the need for a violent bloodbath.
  22. What are his LD% and BABIP?
  23. Rapada came in to face Ibanez (a lefty) and then lefty for Howry to face Sexson (a righty). It's funny that Lou knows Rapada is a LOOGY and he's had him on the team for a day. He's had Ohman all season and doesn't know Ohman's a LOOGY yet. I edited my original post. My gameday either got goofy on me, or I got goofy on my gameday. Either way I was wrong.
  24. Even if Rapada escapes this inning, Lou is stupid for putting a LOOGY in to face right handed hitters. The brilliant pen management continues. EDIT: Nevermind. My gameday got all glitchy.
