    I don't buy it. It makes no sense for someone making a multi-billion dollar deal to get pissy over $6m dollars. I don't buy that Mike North "just reported" the story. He's not a reporter. He's a hack opinion giver who will run with any storyline he can find to create controversy. Mike North is a mushmouth. The though of Zell being involved with player movement over 6 mil is laughable. I would guess if Zell is, and that is an iffy is, it would be in the context of being involved in how Trib management spends the Tribs money plus the fact adding salary beyond this year could affect the price he will get for the Cubs. And $6 million + dollars is still a lot of money no matter how many billion you are spending for the Trib. The Cubs have already signed Jones. They've spent the $7m. What would Zell care about $7m for given that it's already committed? It doesn't hold up to scrutiny. This is garbage speculation by people who want to stir up something.

    Personally, they'd be better off keeping Who? and trying to deal Konekro, Crede, Dye, Podsednik, Iguchi...basically their whole offense needs to be replaced. Who? and Garland are still young enough to stick around for a 2 year rebuild. So, I can't fault Williams there. This seems like a sound decision.

    Wait, so someone who has made an offer to buy a media company has vetoed the decision made by the general manager of a baseball team that makes up part of the media company over $7m? That sounds like a load of crap. $7m is nothing. Nothing. There must be more to this.

    I defy anyone with a pulse to have watched yesterdays game and not think it was unbelievably exciting. Watching Ryan Harvey strike out is more exciting than soccer?

    I paid $38 a seat, including fees, right when they went on sale, and was ten rows from the field behind the North goal (from now on to be known as the Benny Feilhaber goal) Other tickets in the corners/midfield were $60 and $75 plus fees, I think. Tickets were very hard to come by the last several days (it sold out soon after the semis on Thursday) The north end of the field was a lonely place for an American fan to be. I was in the far corner in the 5th row. Awesome seats. There were a fair number of us, just not as many as the south end. But it was all worth it to be so close to the Benny volley. I think I counted 15 fans in my section.
