  1. My Ramirez mancrush is well documented, but I just dont see how sportswriters ever look at him and don't think "Bad Defense and Lazy".
  2. So I'm at work...was Aramis' AB just a bad AB or did he do something dumb?
  3. I think they're going to win this game for some reason.
  4. It's amazing we don't have more Latin Americans on the team. They have some on the youth teams but it's taken a long time to develop. It's because ODP isn't geared towards minority players unless they are middle class and up. Get ready to f him. He's been quoted as saying some sort of nonsense like "he's not ready for the national team". And yet EJ and Ching are.
  5. Holla back, TT
  6. Only if we move Soriano to 1B
  7. They aren't dictating, they are talking, as well they should. Part of their duty is to steer the big ship, and like it or not, the future of Favre/Packers influences the big ship. They aren't telling them what they have to do, but they are involved with the process, and have a right to voice their opinions. They've hardly been overbearing. This isn't David Stern. And what happens when they set the precedent of "gently nudging" a team to do something with a player? Isn't that detrimental to the long term health of the league?
  8. The NFL can't force GB to do anything, but they can certainly exert pressure on them to do something, and I think that's all that's going on here. Favre is a big NFL name...one of the biggest of all time...the NFL wants this resolved so the focus can be on the season and not this drama. I don't blame them there. If GB wants to be stubborn, they can be. But I think they'll do something here in the next week or so. The NFL has no business exerting anything on Green Bay. Again, Farve is an asset. That's all he is. He's being treated as an asset in the most impartial, logical way, and the league shouldn't be in the business of dictating to a team how to handle a player personell issue
  9. The only thing I can blame them for is apparently not being open to letting him start in GB. But you are dead on in that they have absolutely no reason to let him dictate where he goes. He signed a contract, and retired. His fate is up to the team. I don't see how they owe him any opportunity for anything. They paid him for services rendered, and hold his rights. He's an asset. They control the asset. Athletes like to talk out of both sides of their mouths when it's convienent for them. They have no problem talking about "the business" of sports when it suits them, but the second an organization acts in kind, they piss and moan like they're some sort of prisoner and victim. It goes both ways, and I hope GB sticks it out.
  10. Green Bay has every right to do whatever the hell they want with a player they control. If the NFL caves to this, they're no better than MLS, which makes up the rules as it goes along when it comes to player movement. And MLS's system for that is a complete joke. If GB doesn't want him back and doesn't want him playing against them, they have the right to block him. They owe him nothing. They paid him for his performance.
  11. What? Nady is a meh player having a good year, and the Pirates got a high ceiling guy for him. Marte is a generic pen guy, and Pudge is an old, meh catcher. How exactly did they rob anyone?
  12. Holy crap this is a stupid deal for the White Sox. Even if they do spin Swisher back for Street (which I doubt), it's dumb. So basically they traded 2 semi-decent players for a old, bad, creaky guy who can't play CF or 1B, and who's blocked at RF and LF. And if they trade Swisher for Street, that means that they gave up Swisher plus prospects they dealt in the first place to get Swisher for a reliever. WTG Kenny.
  13. If Ned Colletti gets desperate for him, I've got no problem shipping him off now. I don't see how it makes us better this year, and I don't see how we're going to get anything significant enough for Eyre and Cedeno to help us in the future.
  14. I'm not all that interested in trading Cedeno until the winter.
  15. I love how people assume that, since it's Kerry Wood, the blister must actually be like Ebola or a staph infection.
  16. Keep in mind that a break like this will help keep his arm intact and fresh down the stretch.
  17. The Cubs are going to crap all over the Brewers in this series.
  18. I almost feel like we have to wait till after 2010 to get rid of Bradley. Another one wasted. Also, there is now officially no reason for you to ever go to an FC Dallas game. Which is too bad considering they have a S.S.S. and no one to fill it. It's a waste of a market.
  19. Bob Bradley still doesn't know Kenny Cooper exists...
  20. His Aramis for Izturis trade was funnier. Dumbest thing I've ever heard from someone who's supposedly an expert.
  21. This trade likely saved Chad Barrett's life, if you think about it. Blanco was probably near killing him for missing sitter after sitter.
  22. So who is all going to the T&T game in September?
  23. Toronto FC's fans are going to love that hot mess.
  24. Come on Derwood. RedIvyCub makes declarative statements as if she's standing right next to Bud Selig and then can't back any of them up when pressed, and then reverts to either playing the victim or ramping up the condescension. She should either be prepared to back up her statements, or be prepared to be called out.
  25. Also, how does working for the Cubs for 8 years make you privy to the sales of MLB teams?
