As a fan of the league, that's a massive get. Gio's a really good player, the FMF managed him perfectly even when he wasn't getting tick at Spurs. As a US fan, I too now hate the Galaxy for allowing our biggest rival's best player a chance at consistent PT.

that's not really what i got out of the first period, despite the 2-0 lead I only say that because it seems like so far, these first two games are a lot more open than the 7 against Detroit; there seems to be a lot more space and skating room. I just don't see them being all that special. Quick is good but if the Hawks are going to pepper him with shots, he's not going to be able to stop them all.

DC are dreadful, though. The Fire really need some sort of creative force in the midfield; they have too many water carriers right now and it shows. Long term, if he gets healthy again, I think he starts. He's been either hurt or out of form for most of the past two years, though. Short term, I'm not sure.

His family are permanent residents so he can become one anytime, right? I'm not positive. I do know he doesn't have a green card; thankfully he's 17, so if he wants to start the process now (or marry an American girl) we have time.

I like the crowd NER have there. It helps that they're playing better ball right now than at any point the last few years. I wish Diego Fagundez were a citizen. He's really good.

Of the things I had wanted to pay attention to today, the one that's sticking out is that Fabian Johnson doesn't look comfortable in that advanced position. You can watch him thinking as opposed to reacting.

See, now Charlton I had actually heard of. Man, that's [expletive] up that a team gets cut down like that. Check out United on Netflix Instant. It's pretty good. Thanks for the heads up. I know it's Leeds, but is The Damned United any good? Damned United is really good. It's definitely worth a watch. Brian Clough is just an interesting character.

Chivas USA, in the past 24 hours, has been hit with a lawsuit alleging discrimination against non-Latinos AND fired El Chelis. I've spent some time reading the filing...and CUSA is going to get their asses handed to them in court. Today was a great advertisement for soccer being played somewhere between half and three-quarters speed. No one got hurt. Job done.
