  1. Lmao. Fantasy Comparison: Alex Rodriguez 1120 Miguel Tejada 915 Derek Jeter 815 Neifi Perez 135 Enrique Wilson -5 Oh my god. To be 140 less fantasy points than Neifi Perez is really saying something. How is that guy still in the league? Would you like fries with that? Technically, he's not. Yes. He's currently hitting .252 for the Pawtucket Red Sox. The only reason he's in Pawtucket is because the BRS invited him to spring traing because he is one of ManRam's best friends. Ownership wanted spring training to be more ManRam friendly. Wasn't part of his reason being on the Cubs being ARam's good friend? Is that how he actually is able to be in professional baseball?
  2. I would rather start Guzman and give Zambrano an extra day off this time through the rotation. He has been heavily abused 4 of the past 4 starts. Agreed, the bullpen is rested and it would be nice to see Guzman get some good work in and give Z some much needed rest.
  3. Congrats to Sean! He's been great thus far.
  4. Who fills in for Prior while he's on the DL the first half of the year? Rusch? hey we still got guys coming up through the system! ... Gallagher is one i think will be something!.. and there are alot more... so hopefully Prior doesnt get hurt! (what are the chances of that!) and.... hopefully NO rusch! How about NSBB correspondent Randy Wells and his sparkling .99 ERA in West Tenn. Guzman could be a good starter, too. You got other possibilities in Hill and Ryu as well. I like the Carlos tandem idea the best, though.
  5. Right nut! This guy is gonna be something, I have a feeling.
  6. Patterson was a young hitter with loads of talent that was never harnessed properly. Pierre is a player with a (bad) established way of hitting where as Corey was young enough to modify his approach. Both broke into the big leagues the same year, and Pierre is 2 years older. I don't see much of a difference. I was referring to the point in time when the Cubs coaching staffs were first able to work with each player. Patterson came to the Cubs out of the minors and Pierre going into this year was too old of a dog to learn any great new tricks and already had an established way of hitting. THAT is why Cubs coaching should be more blamed for Corey than for Juan.
  7. I hope Guzman is up to be Gledon's long relief buddy and then to take over his spot in the rotation after his terrible start on Wednesday.
  8. I have some doubt, because part of me believes that Zambrano is a god/superhero/robot and the only thing that can break him is his nemesis, the instant messenger.
  9. I think he's DH'ing a good amount when he's not catching, so its pretty inevitable that he hits a cold spot due to fatigue/wear. Right now, he's in the midst of his best streak ever and got his avg up near .400. The days of the .400 are really gone, but Mauer will definitely make a run at the batting title.
  10. The Cubs did get a beast out of the Farns deal, SCOTT MOORE But, Novoa can be beastly as long as he isn't walking 3 guys in a row. Once he gets into a groove, he's really good. I really like him as long as it isn't necessary for him to be the big arm out of the pen.

  12. I'm lovin what this guy is doing. I picked him up in the 6th-7th round in my fantasy draft, and got some heat from some pretty dumb Royals/Dodgers fan friend of mine. He then told me when he was hitting .322 in late April that he was "just hot" and he's a "bad player on a bad team." I'm in serious need of crow to shove down his throat. Also, Liriano, Mauer and Santana could be a great nucleus to build the Twins back up to division winning standards. If they don't overpay to bring back Hunter, they'll be in great shape.
  13. I think Murton's upside is in the Mark Grace mold, as well, though his recent struggles make me think his ceiling may not be quite that high. Still, given his relative cost I'd consider Matt a solid corner OF provided the other corner is occupied by legit slugger. (And no, despite his recent success I don't think that stud is Jones.) The slow but steady erosion in Murton's patience is cause for concern and bears watching over the coming months. A legit slugging OF makes this offense fantastic if Lee is back to full strength and you platoon Murton/Jones. I also don't think Carlos Lee is the stud you are looking for.
  14. Murton's Take/Swing ratio has been getting steadily worse over the past month and a half. If this keeps up that lauded patience will soon go the way of the dodo and Murton will fit right in with the rest of the Cubs offense. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v384/bobskeeper/MurtonT-S-Tracker.jpg Wow, I just wanted to cry. I've thought about Murton as a Mark Grace type of hitter in left. I think we all know this isn't the best he's going to be (unless he goes down this aggressive path too far) and the idea of a platoon with Jones should only be executed in a contention year, and this year for development. Hopefully he becomes a solid LF who can hit for pretty good power.
  15. There is MUCH more of a chance that Womack plays at or below career #'s than at his current #'s. Also, Womack and Pierre are not interchangable parts unless you want to see Womack in center. If he could play it well, I wouldn't mind that switch, but for now, its more of Womack over Nevin and possibly Walker when Lee comes back.
  16. IM IN.... I CALLED SHOT GUN! oh god, make him stop! LOL! http://static.flickr.com/28/45764606_82ac327354_m.jpg Ah yes, I am on this BandWGN
  17. WHO KNOWS? Well there wasnt really a save chance for Dempster the past week. To quote the great people at FJM "All hail the save! The most arbitrary of baseball statistics!"
  18. The Cubs are 1-0 when Dempster walks the bases loaded in the 9th, walks in a run and gets Felipe Lopez, Brandon Phillips and Ken Griffey out.
  19. Well, this game is making me sick, on to other sections of the forum....................
  20. So...anyway. How bout that Jerome Williams. 6 innings, 1 run on a solo homer tonight against Round Rock. Things are looking up for the Cubs organization, now.
  21. Any predictions on Dempster's command after a week off? I'm going to say leadoff walk but then he settles in.
  22. IMO this outing was very encouraging. After the first he was lights out mostly, and he was sitting at 90-92 consistently. Maybe I'm tired of having such low expectations. You would think we wouldn't have to say that a 3-run performance in 5 innings was lights out for Prior. I really had hoped that the Cubs would finally have a dominant pitching staff with Prior, Wood and Z, but that sure doesn't look like it's going to happen. At least Wood had shoulder surgury. Prior's injury is still a mystery to me. Don't you know that minor league hitters are more dangerous? Just looking at the PBP, it looks like he's pitching better despite whatever his ERA might have been from this game. One more start and he's ready.
