  1. Fred, can you confirm the Cubs are undefeated when they call up two top 5 prospects within a week? Go Cubs!
  2. Ouch, Jimmy Nelson is going to have to pitch his way out of there.
  3. Great to get out of there w/only 1 given up. Meatball to Alvarez was not reassuring.
  4. This has been a good defensive inning.
  5. My amateur radar-in-motion reading shows that system heading out to the northeast. There might be some light rain in spots, but I don't think the field is going to get too wet and the game should be able to start relatively early.
  6. If its the storm system that's pushing up from the south, it might get washed out pretty quickly. The rain is really heavy down in Bloomington, IN right now and has been going for over an hour. Accuweather now has it hitting Chicago at about 2pm.
  7. I've seen some news article comments by Europeans saying that the MLS is also nice because it fills the late night hours with some kind of sport. Following the league this year has been some good fun at times. The expansion clubs seem to do a lot to balance a lot of the fan focus from the NW and there's some distinct team identities around the league which make for interesting matches.
  8. During the end of the 2012 season, I was in Phoenix while the Cubs were in town and the Diamondbacks had just been eliminated. I went to the game with some friends and was wearing some neutral shirt color (green?). We get there a little late and when we arrive at the seats, an old very tan woman is sitting at the end of the row. She looks at us and says 'ARE YOU A CUBS FAN?' I say, 'Yes'. At this point she got upset and I ended up having to go around the other end of the row to avoid incident. After the game on the Phoenix Disneyworld style train, the fans were having some good laughs about the Cubs' futility, only a few days after being eliminated themselves. I very much enjoy the Diamondbacks mismanagement.
  9. I'll probably be able to fall asleep easier tonight, at least. I expect the results against Marquis to be a little better.
  10. He's going to be sitting over the next charity dunk tank.
  11. Coghlan now at 2B, ha. They could put Castillo as SS and it won't matter if Strop strikes out the side.
  12. One thing that does not give me confidence in this team is Coghlan's defense.
  13. Our team ERA is about 12th in the NL out of 15 teams, and our OBP is about 10th last I checked. Not sure I feel that's too impressive. All that being said, the peripherals have been solid. The Cubs are swinging at balls outside of the strike zone less than any other team and lead the league in FIP. Unfortunately, their opposing BABIP is the highest in the league for the Cubs while the offensive BABIP is near the bottom of the league.
  14. Good pitching. Good hitting approach. Great bullpen.
  15. Pitches against Bruce - getting a little squeezed. http://i.imgur.com/SNIhaa1.png
  16. Apparently Reds fans call this guy Disco or Discotech.
  17. For 4-5 years before my PS2 conked out, I played the MVP NCAA version that came out after EA lost the license. Talk about awful soundtrack, though.
  18. Going on a win streak or run of 6 of 7 prior to the Bryant call-up would bring the hype to an extreme level. Just have to keep rolling tonight.
  19. As long as no home or opposing fans use the phrase 'chain gang' I am all for it. http://bloximages.newyork1.vip.townnews.com/scnow.com/content/tncms/assets/v3/editorial/d/66/d66a3af4-692f-5b7e-9743-2180bfca345a/552c919dabff1.image.jpg
