    Looking at the Marlins, I can honestly say that they are much closer to winning a World Series that the Cubs are. They have won twice in the last ten years. The management knows what they are doing. They probably have more productive prospects on their major league team than we have in our entire system. Agreed. The worst management in baseball= Cubs. People wonder why it has taken so long for us to win. A curse has nothing to do with it, it's all about having the worst management in the MLB(and for quite some time.) Because we keep marching like sheep into Wrigley field. There's no incentive for the Trib to put a winning team on the field. We'll take whatever cr*p they'll feed us.

    I don't get why so many people fail to recognize this fact. When you go in that place it totally gives you the feel of one of those 70's monstrocities. To me it's no better than Shea with more flags. And both of those stadiums have a ridiculous amount of unnecessary and ill-placed bars running between seats. Terrible place to sit and watch a game. You're right. The only "history" I associate with Yankee Stadium is the 70's era Reggie Jackson/Billy Martin teams. I've never sat in the box seats at either place but have never liked the railings. I hope the new places don't have them. http://www.ballparks.com/baseball/american/nyybpk.htm The new stadium is nearly an exact copy of the old one. You can never tell what it will really be like on the inside. Some reasons: 1) luxury boxes and the resulting revenue. Don't tell me all the corporations and rich people in NY won't pay big money to avoid mixing with the unwashed masses. 2) I think they get the space to build an attached (or semi-attached)parking garage. More $$$. 3) keeping up with the Jones' 4) will tick Red Sox fans off. 5) Increase value of the team. (if that's possible) George may be an over-reacting, bloviating drama queen, but he's one hell of a businessman.

    Please explain. I'm not challenging, just confused. Horrible actress, dumb as a load of bricks but hot as hell? (20 years ago though she was good in "Tommy Boy".)

    I voted for Kansas City's Kaufman: very nice place to see a game. It's just sad the team sucks. Most over-rated? Yankee Stadium. It's not the house Ruth built. It's the field Ruth played on and the house that CBS* gut renovated in the early 70's. (*they owned the team before Steinbrenner)

    Is it like before a Blackhawks game at the old Chicago Stadium? No. I still remember during the first gulf war the BHawks and St. Louis Blues played on a Saturday night. It was only about a week into the air part of the War but feelings were high. An already loosened up crowd went nuts when Wayne came out and belted the National Anthem. People in my section actually passed out sparklers as others furiously waved American flags.

    First of all he might be in a rural area where cable TV is not available. Second of all WGN9 in HDTV is only available over the air and via cable in the Chicago area. Even if he could get cable he might be stuck with the WGN national superstation (outside Chicago). That channel is standard def only, carries no WB programming and I think carries fewer Cubs games. 80 miles is pushing it unless you're on top of a hill, have a tower to mount your antenna and a clear line of view to the tower. DirecTV would work, but only for standard def. If the original poster in looking for HDTV Cubs games from WGN, that's not an option with Extra Innings. DTV would work. WGN carries all the cub gameson WGN in Chicago. Plus you can get EI.

    I'd like to sample an XG91. Have you tried it? No I haven't: that's too heavy duty for what I need. I've used the DB2 indoors in Lincoln Park and Downers Grove with no problems. I would recommend you go over to avsforum.com try two of the subforums for more info. The HDTV Reception Hardware area: http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/forumdisplay.php?s=&daysprune=&f=25 and the Chicago OTA (over the air) HDTV thread. http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/forumdisplay.php?s=&daysprune=&f=25 I think the XG91 might have been what some yahoo farmboys used in southern Wisconsin to get signals from Madison, Rockford, Chicago and Milwaukee. There was a thread over at avsforum a couple of years ago where they mounted it on top of a 100 foot tall grain silo along with a motor to rotate the antenna. I think they were pushing 110 miles away from some towers and still having stable signals.

But there is absolutely nothing wrong with poking fun at Cubs players and their hitting ability and the concept of pink bats. Pink is a soft color, many Cubs hitters are soft hitters. Pink is associated with women and women don't generally hit major league pitching very well. It's a lighthearted funny situation. Nobody is picking on breast cancer sufferers, survivors or their families. I don't think we should make a habit of going around telling people what they can and cannot find humorous. Breast cancer is a terrible thing, but I've heard many cancer survivors talk about the power of laughter, and many of them even joke about their own disease. As long as people aren't going around making fun of people for having cancer, than they aren't doing anything wrong. Good point: I was wrong and I suck. (Not as bad as the Cubs though.)
