  1. Same here. I don't think he's a significant enough of an upgrade over Ronny to trade for.
  2. The fact that at age 30, and after 6 seasons, he hasn't come close to that in any other season.
  3. I love the Pirates being in the NL Central.
  4. In what way is Lugo an older Cedeno? Lugo is a moderately priced productive SS. He's very similar to Furcal. Cedeno might one day be as productive as Lugo, but we sure as heck don't know for sure. I think you just answered your own question -- a moderately priced productive SS. I know you're not sold on Ronny, but I most definitely am after watching him in Des Moines a few times. I think he's going to be just fine. No, I didn't answer my question. You can't just say you saw him in Iowa a couple times and therefore he's just a younger Lugo. Ronny is very much an unproven commodity. He doesn't have a strong track record of productivity in the minors to fall back on. You can think he's going to be just fine all you want, but that doesn't mean you can wave off the fact that Lugo would provide something Ronny cannot, which is stable productivity (as opposed to Neifi, who is stable crappiness). I most certainly can wave off that "fact". In my opinion (not yours) Lugo is not a significant upgrade over Ronny.
  5. Yes, because we've all seen exactly how similar Corey Patterson and Ronny Cedeno are.
  6. I was asking you a question. I'm still trying to figure out what it means.
  7. It's a fact that players become better when you pay them more?

  9. And if you go by spring numbers, Derrek Lee is riding the pine in favor of Dopirak. Neifi belongs on the bench because he has consistently proven that he is a bench player at best.
  10. That's a load of crap. There are some pretty bad SS in the ML, and none in our price range are a "significant" improvement (since you brought up payroll). Lugo is an older Cedeno. Renteria is overrated and too expensive. Tejada would have cost way too much. Who else was available?
  11. And the alternative was? Aside from drastically overpaying for Furcal, who else was out there to provide for a significant upgrade at SS? Lugo? Renteria? Tejada? Every other option was highly overrated, way too expensive, or both.
  12. He absolutely did by looking at the alternative. Cedeno struggling = Neifi.
  13. No, that's knowledge of the game and what it takes to win.
  14. That makes ??? number 3. Angel Pagan
  15. Can someone please rank the teams in order of srappiness, gamership and professional hitting please? How 'bout spunk or hustle?
  16. What if it's not anecdotal? I'm sure studies have been done at some level that relate. I'll search the Psych libraries later and see if I can dig something up.
  17. That's it exactly!! I'm just asking you, and everyone else, to rank the teams of the NL Central solely on the basis of team chemistry. It's easy. Only if you have access to all teams. We cannot judge the team chemistry because we have no idea how well the players get along.
  18. I do. Which is why I think someone who may know a social psychologist should get an opinion. Nothing personal, I just don't trust your opinion on this.
  19. In other words, there's no such thing as team chemistry affecting play, and we have to wait until the end of the season to see who won to then go back and apply the label of good chemistry or bad chemistry. Someone should consult a social psychologist (not necessarily you, goony). It's certainly not my area of expertise, but I don't doubt the existence of "chemistry" having an impact on performance.
  20. Why? That's what their name was originally. When was that? I thought they were always the California Angels before they changed to Anaheim from the franchise conception. Were they the LA Angels before that? Yep. LA > California > Anaheim > LA
  21. He may be worse than I think he is. Exhibit A. And just because he's competing with Wuertz doesn't mean he's worthy of a spot. Wuertz isn't all that great either.
  22. Miller is the NRI So when Koronka gets send down, the roster will be set, right? And Koronka had better get sent down.
