  1. I have my doubts because it all came to a screeching halt. However, he absolutely deserves to be.
  2. Was it a case of Aramis not knowing the pitcher? Any good hitter can lift any pitch, if they have an idea of where the location would be. Anyone seen Vlad homer off a pitch at his shoelaces? It can be done.
  3. I think Canseco's book had more truth in it than most people are willing to concede. He seemed to be the foremost expert on using during his playing days, why wouldn't he know most of what he wrote? There is no doubt in my mind that McGwire was a user (even without what Canseco has said). Absolutely none. And to give equal time, I am also convinced Sammy used as well.
  4. Underhand or overhand?
  5. It's only a matter of time until he becomes a "where are they now" subject.
  6. Pitch him the same way they do everyone else -- very carefully. These are the matchups I will love when Wood and Prior are back. None of them are afraid to go after guys like Pujols and Bonds. Too many other pitchers nibble, but then again, most of them don't have very good stuff.
  7. Maddux because he could handle the bat as well and is head-and-shoulders above the rest defensively. Pedro is a very close 2nd because hardly anyone could get on base. Then Clemens. Their best seasons: Pedro - 285 ERA+ / 0.737 WHIP Maddux - 273 ERA+ / 0.896 WHIP Clemens - 226 ERA+ / 1.030 WHIP
  8. 8 starting pitchers and 11 second basemen. Now that's sticking with the Cubs theme for 2006.
  9. All it says is that the Dodgers are a possible destination for him next year if he isn't with the Cubs.
  10. Good thing you're not successful, huh?
  11. Overpay? Most certainly not. Cut the purse strings? Definitely.

  13. Maybe that's why he wants a baseball team.
  14. Slacker.
  15. Bartman has as much a chance of doing that as Fredbird taking on D Lee. Actually Fredbird has some pretty good karate action going... Lee has the reach. I don't think Fredbird would land anything, unless it was your typical run-of-the-mill Cardinal sucker-punch.
  16. 1. Oberbueller is a Hawkeye -- no making fun. 2. Glendon's official nickname on this board is "[expletive]" because, well, this isn't quantum physics.
  17. I like those numbers -- 50 & 100.
  18. Cubs vs Lowe Dodgers vs Zambrano Looks to be a bit of a pitcher's duel, but Z definitely has the better numbers.
  19. My favorite: "Outfielder Vince Coleman missed the entire 1985 World Series after being rolled up in the tarp machine at Busch Stadium." :P
  20. THE EDMONDS STEROIDS THREAD WAS A JOKE Not a single person in that thread "more or less accused" Edmonds of using steroids. in a round about way, I just did in this thread. That was a little more than "round about".
  21. Looks like Mr. Hornkohl's been busy.
  22. If Beltre's deal is used as a barometer for Aramis, my calculations show he'll be due $6.3 billion under his new deal.
