  1. 2 of them had partially torn or frayed labrums. Exactly. I don't follow. You're not expecting them to be better that what we have based on their ERAs from last season, but you're conceding 2 of them were injured?

  3. Neifi was barely on the team that year. In 2004, Neifi had 62 PA's in 23 games with .371/.400/.548/.948 for the Cubs In 2004, Neifi had 319 PA's in 103 games with .232/.276/.295/.571 for the Giants Ick. The Giants have made some pretty stupid moves over the recent years. This was not one of them.

  5. Say what you will about Reinsdorf, but there have been exactly 7 championships for Chicago teams in the four major sports in the last 20 years. All 7 have been Reinsdorf's teams. The Chicago Fire won 2 titles in the early part of the decade.... Wasn't Reinsdorf the goalie on both of those teams? He was the backup keeper, but luckily Zach Thorton stayed healthy. Right.

  7. :-k You know he meant 2004. Or more likely, 2005.
  8. Don Zimmer pulled a hit-and-run twice with the bases loaded. You wouldn't think that was a good idea either, but we were successful both times. (never mind the fact that Grace was at the plate and contact was almost a guarantee)
  9. It would cost Z at the minimum. Not with the price tag he'll be due. He could easily become as expensive as Cabrera, and the Marlins wouldn't want that.

  11. Tom Emanski videos Then what's Tom Emanski doing?
  12. Oscar took no crap, but by the same token, he also gave none. Many people are threatened by personalities like his, and a lot of people cannot get along with people like him. Maybe it was his attitude or personality, or maybe it was his coaching philosophy that got him fired. I don't know for sure, but I do know I liked Oscar. I liked him a lot. May he rest in peace.
  13. I could have sworn he was at least 38 years old. Turns out he's about 4 months older than me.
  14. How are baseball players less replaceable? Every year players retire, and every year new ones come in to take their place. By saying they are not replaceable, there would be zero talent on the fields right now as it all should have dissipated decades ago.
  15. But when you consider how much money they are bringing in, it's only fair to them that they have high salaries. Remember that baseball is a business. Nobody comes to the park to see the owners, they come to see the players. I spent several years with a Fortune 100 company as a project manager and could easily quantify how much money I saved or made the company. Many of them over the years were in the millions, and one topped out at $27 million. My salary was $48,000. Baseball players are overpaid. could anyone else have done your job? Can Adrian Beltre, Chan Ho park, etc. be replaced? Of course someone eventually could do my job, but I've been gone nearly 2 years and still have people calling because of the incompetence that replaced me. ANYBODY can be replaced. That rule is universal.

  17. Albert Pujols. It would probably cost no more than Wuertz and Novoa, maybe Hill or Guzman.
  18. Aramis is still up 18 in the OPS. Not that it makes his 636 impressive somehow.
  19. Great to see those numbers from him.
  20. First big league stint since 2004, I'll cut him a little slack too. If he does it next time out, I'm grabbing my torch and pitchfork.
  21. Let's just hope nobody in a Cubs uniform gets hurt today.
