  1. Miguel Cabrera just turned 23 and one of the most coveted players in all of baseball. He has a tremendous ego and is a little immature. One begat the other. He will grow up, and with the right surroundings should eventually become a little more modest. Even if he doesn't, I'll still take that 900+ OPS any day of the week.
  2. Jimy is a troll? Tone it down or go away. Jimy is a something.
  3. I'm not against it. I'm just pointing it out, since the Cubs weren't explicitly mentioned. Oh, I know. My post wasn't really directed at yours. Sorry for the confusion.
  4. We all take shots at the Cubs every day. Why can't Will Carroll? I say good for him.
  5. They did it in 2003. 2003 was a firesale. Aramis wasn't even supposed to leave until the dude they were going to trade went on the DL. The pirates were forced into trading Aramis. We just happened to be there with money to spend and a 3B hole to fill. They were also well out of the race at that time. That's not the case here. What does 2003 have in common with 2006 as far as the Pirates are concerned? Next to nothing that I see. I'm not saying the situations are the same. You asked why they would, I answered that they did in 2003. We had a huge hole, Aramis filled it.
  6. They did it in 2003. Not exactly. We bailed them out of one, so to speak. They were in danger of not being able to make payroll at some point DURING THE SEASON. They wanted to trade Kris Benson's 6 mil salary but couldn't because he got hurt, so they had to trade Aramis. Aramis could have been dealt elsewhere. Any number of contenders would have taken him if the Pirates were so desperate to unload salary. Instead, we had a rather large hole at 3B and the Pirates let us fill it.
  7. Wouldn't it have to be the other way around. The Dodgers would be getting ripped off enough by taking Rusch. Why would they take his contract and Nomar's? I thought the lunacy in my post would have been enough evidence that I was joking. I guess not.
  8. What's the strategy for when Lee is back? He moves to the outfield, he's played there a little with the Rangers. That was just to get him in the lineup. Most of those games were in 2003 when A) he was a rookie and B) the Rangers had Palmeiro and Jurassic Carl. I would have found a way to get all 3 in the lineup too.
  9. Did he say anything about me?
  10. What's the strategy for when Lee is back?
  11. I was referring to Woods high pitch count, not getting out of the 5th inning. I believe she was as well. 200+ IP over 33 starts is more than a 6 inning average. The numbers don't support your claim. 2002, he averaged 6.48 IP/start, 2003 was 6.59, and he was at 6.38 in 2004.
  12. He's lucky to be known at all.
  13. 1984 Cubs. Doesn't really seem like it was that long ago...
  14. Here's a list of who I think deserve the roster spot more: List 1 List 2
  15. I musta missed that game. I do remember Stoney with the Bud and Harry with the cigar. To me, that seemed like a sure sign of the apocalypse. Thad Bosley: now there's somebody who overachieved in a Cubs uniform.
  16. Say wha???
  17. Nomar for Rusch, Dodgers eat Nomar's contract.
  18. He looked pretty darn good at the WBC too. I bet he'd be better than Glendon or Williams or Marshall this year.
  19. Right handed power that can play first and the OF. Who would you have brought up? Sing, who is still having troubles getting acclimated to AAA? Somebody that had potential to be good someday. BTW how many games has Restovich played at 1b in his career? Zero: Total as LF 34 Total as RF 49 It was also mentioned on the Score that he had played "some 1B" in spring training. That hardly makes me feel better. Moving from 1B to RF is one thing. Moving from RF to 1B is something else.
  20. How many others did not score runs in those games?
  21. The Astros over-achieved last year. They had an anemic offense, but their pitching staff was amazing. I'm not predicting a WS appearance for this team, but I certainly cannot discount it based on what the Astros did last season.
  22. With all due respect, look at Houston's opponents so far.
