  1. Rest him now for the playoffs.
  2. What's a White Sox?
  3. I believe that Cuban is from Pittsburgh. Yes, he is.
  4. 1) We rip on Pujols because he plays for the Cardinals. The vast majority of us already know that he is 57 years old and he will continue to hit until he takes off that Cardinals jersey. He will leave the NL Central at the age of 84 and then he will begin his decline. 2) Pujols was so hopped up on roids that he scared the tester himself into actually providing the urine sample. It's true, look it up. 3) HGH is actually Pujols sweat. Don't act surprised. He has 8 year olds in Guatemala bottling it. 4) Welcome to the board. As long as you keep in mind, and respect, that we are Cubs fans and already know how badly the team sucks, you'll be just fine.
  5. I would think MLB owners would welcome him in. You would think they would be happy if the Cubs were sold. It would likely be overpriced, and it would drive the values of their clubs up a bit.
  6. You are correct, I was being lazy. The 14 should have been 28.
  7. I think it's funny that we're trying to decide who's better out of the 2.
  8. but who do the guys in the truck pick? On this note, what do the Sox announcers' "Picks to click" mean? Get a hit or hit a homer? It's a stupid game if they NEVER explain the rules. I think they're right as long as their guy is either a) not arrested or b) not killed.
  9. Career OPS+ Womack - 73 Neifi - 65 They both suck, but Womack sucks a little bit less. How lucky are we to have them both? For predictive purposes I don't pay attention to career numbers of a player as old and broken down as Womack. 29 MLB teams think he's finished and see no reason to disagree. I think the same can be said about Neifi.
  10. With Dusty managing what are the odds of that happening? Slim to none, but I'd still like to see it.
  11. From what I have observed, he is a pretty good defensive catcher. He's no Piazza at the plate, but he's no Blanco either. I'd like to see him starting and having Hank as the backup while Barrett is out for a week.

  13. Actually the way the question was asked is this...if the Cubs win every game from here on out, the NL central still has to play each other a certain number of games. Which means that the NL central teams cannot possibly lose every game. Someone has to win a Cards-Stros game, for example. If you take that into account, and assume that the NL central teams will lose every game against another division, there has to be a number that will be an elimination point for the Cubs. I don't think we're near that yet, but this was brought up at the end of Murphy interviewing his Baseball Info Solutions buddy. It doesn't matter who plays what team and when. If all teams in the division play 500 ball overall from here on out, the Cubs only need to be 14 over 500 the rest of the way to win it. Where those wins come from does not matter. The likelihood of that happening is another story altogether.
  14. Cubs win 5-3. Adam Dunn goes yard thrice, but all are solo shots. Fast Freddie Bynum is my pick to click.
  15. 1) We're nowhere close to being mathmatically eliminated. To be mathmatically eliminated, you need to be 5 games back with 4 games to play, for example. 2) If everyone else in the division plays 500 ball from here on out, we would have to finish 63-49 (14 over) to take the division as we are currently 13½ back.
  16. Yes, we should all keep in mind that Womack is only marginally better than Neifi.
  17. They'd be idiots if they did trade him. But I want him on the Cubs, dammit. But according to ESPN page 2 he's the worst player in baseball! Good stuff.
  18. Why do people think Glendon shined? He gave up 4 runs in 4 innings, didn't he? There's no way that qualifies as a good outing. Yes, but only 3 were earned. :D The only one that thinks he shined is Dusty who has said he earned the next start needed by the 5th starter due to the 9 K's he recorded. Not exactly.
  19. Why do people think Glendon shined? He gave up 4 runs in 4 innings, didn't he? There's no way that qualifies as a good outing. Because only 3 were earned? He only gave up 2 HR? His WHIP for the game was only 1.75? 9 K's or not, he was less than stellar.
  20. Go big or go home. (Or some other stupid sports cliche)
  21. That's my thinking too. Nope. When a player wins, he gets to chose. I still think Barrett should drop the appeal if it isn't heard and serve it vs. AL Central teams from June 16-25. OK, I'm asking since when has that been the case? The only way a player could "choose" historically is if he drops his appeal. If his appeal is heard and decided upon, his suspension begins immediately whether it's 10 games or reduced to 5.
  22. I've never found that to be the case. He's always seemed quite fair to me (especially considering he's a Sox fan).
  23. I seem to recall at that game that Mr. Cuban said that while he is a Pirates fan, he would be interested in owning the Cubs if they were for sale.
  24. I'd drop Pierre to 8 and move everyone else up one. If Pierre can't lead off he doesn't belong on the team. Better to trade him. I agree, but he's currently the best option we have for that position as sad as it sounds. Right now, he has no competition.
