  1. Over/Under on number of days until he announces his retirement?
  2. Maybe that Wilken feller knows something. Looks like that change of scenery did some good. 400/459/600 at West Tenn
  3. 1) Zito's a FA after this season. We're not contending so there's no reason to trade a bunch of guys for him now. 2) Where's the A and B in your list, cuz I don't know that Brownlie or Sing fit in either category?
  4. No you aren't... 8-[ Nah, my girlfriend is a White Sox fan. :D Makes sense. Only a Cards fan or a Sox fan would be dumb enough to date one of you. :P
  5. He's been blessed by deity. Someone needs to photoshop a picture of Dunn looking down, shining brightly on Marmol from Heaven. How dare you. Marmol should be looking down on the likes of Dunn.
  6. 2008 sounds right. In that case, I keep him even longer if he's healthy and pitching well. A healthy Mark Prior > 90% of all other pitchers in the game.
  7. This is actually a conversation that's been had quite a bit in other threads, but off the top of my head.... Larry Dierker Davey Johnson (though he just found employment elsewhere) Bobby Valentine Jim Riggleman Bob Brenly Lou Brown Leslie Nielsen Punky Brewster Eek! the cat
  8. July of 06 or 07? In my scenario, he wouldn't be traded until the off-season (between 06 and 07). I definitely would not trade him before them (and maybe not after). He's still under their control for a few more years at this point. Sorry, July of 2007. I'm confused now, isn't 2007 the last season he's under our control?
  9. I hope anything with Oswalt crashes and burns and destroys all who ride it. I hate him to, but if one win for him means that Fat Glen gets DFA'd, Im all for it. Fat Glen is not pitching Wednesday.
  10. I would not trade Prior until at least July. If he's healthy and throwing good, I work on an extension. If he wants no part in signing long-term, he's pitched his value back up into a blockbuster deal.
  11. Patterson's numbers when he doesn't bat in an inning: 0 AB .000 BA .000 OBP .000 SLG
  12. Eric Benderoff obviously either has: 1) not earned the respect from his bosses to do actual stories 2) way too much free time
  13. There is no such thing. But if there were such a thing, Dunn would be the one hitting them. And if unicorns existed, Ben Kingsley would be the world's 3rd largest breeder.
  14. Fat Glen ain't pitchin' Wednesday.
  15. Lmao. Fantasy Comparison: Alex Rodriguez 1120 Miguel Tejada 915 Derek Jeter 815 Neifi Perez 135 Enrique Wilson -5 Oh my god. To be 140 less fantasy points than Neifi Perez is really saying something. How is that guy still in the league? Would you like fries with that? Technically, he's not. Yes. He's currently hitting .252 for the Pawtucket Red Sox. Correct, not in the league.
  17. Don't get me wrong, I love the kids. I'd just much rather have the modern day Wood and Prior......minus the DL stops.
  18. They have 2 of them, it's got to be confusing.
  19. It's brought about more change than mediocrity has. Ask Jim Riggleman and Don Baylor. Well Riggleman was in charge in 98 when the Cubs sneaked into the Wild Card. Perfect example though, he was fired 2 years later and Baylor was brought in. What did that do? Nothing. Baylor gets fired and Baker is brought in the following year. Besides 2003, what has that done? Nothing. I'm not arguing some changes need to be made, some do. But the Cubs could lose every game the rest of the year, it still woudln't bring a winning team any faster. If anything it would drive potential players away from wanting to come here. It isn't going to be an overnight thing, 2003 was a fluke. They will have to start from the bottom and instill the philosophies and qualities of a winning organization. Losing the rest of our games will not deter players from coming here. They are motiviated by money. How else can you explain Mike Hampton going to the Rockies? We cannot instill philosophies and qualities of a winning organization with the regime we have in place. Why? Our record and recent trends speak for themselves. To start from the bottom requires dramatic changes.
  20. Because he's a career minor leaguer in his first season in the Cubs system. I'll be darned, drafted in the 13th round in 1998 ahead of Juan Pierre.
  21. What he said. I don't actively root for the team to fail, but I do realize that failure is better for the future of this team than playing close to 500. If the Cubs can't compete for titles, they may as well go 0-162 and try again next year with a different combination.
  22. If that would get a deal done, I'd pack up Rich and drive him to Cincy and bring Adam back with me. Anyone have gas money?
  23. How "this" has not already been bumped out of the lineup is beyond me. I understand they have enough firepower to make up for his deficiencies, but he has been absolutely horrible.
