  1. Well in fact we are higher than we were before. Derreck Lee isn't injured, we do not have Pierre in CF. We are not paying Wood $13 million. Miller is probably close to fully rehabed and is only getting $0.5 million more and could be our #5 next year (in APRIL). Prior "could" come back. We have a hitting coach that preaches more patient hitting practices. We have a manager that will not stand for loosing and demand the team win close games. (IE: not laying over for the pirates and reds). We have a president and team that knows fans are angry and they are obviously going to push hard for some top talent and the goal is to win next year. And according to sources payroll was upped to $115 mil. So I would hardly say we are were we were last year. We are MUCH better. And it's going to get MUCH better. The Cubs.com article that talks about Ramirez & Wood signing also said that Hendry will be talking with the agents for Pierre & Blanco over the next week. Hopefully it's just to identify Pierre's asking price to decide whether or not to offer arby. I've heard a few times they want Hank back.
  2. Does anyone have a link to the full set of rules governing the number of FA's we'd be able to sign? I can't seem to find anything more than just general statements that don't tell me whether or not re-signing Aramis today vs yesterday would actually count against our max.
  3. Link That list can't be right according to the 30-50-60 description at the top. The new CBA has the breakdown at 20-40 with C's eliminated.
  4. What if you went to a game and someone near you called him a bum and he thought it was you and came over and beat you up and took your girlfriend? Huh?
  5. Must have been the hometown discount. Not quite the 7/119 Kinzer hinted at. Wood at 1.75 sounds good. I was guessing 2.5 - 3.
  6. 6-6 teams shouldn't even get an invite. 7 wins should be the bare minimum with a 12-game schedule.
  7. Oh yeah, get Mark Prior at 100% and keep him there.
  8. My demands are still quite high: 1. Matsuzaka and either Schmidt or Zito 2. JD Drew in CF 3. Tejada or ARod at SS
  9. That's one of the few things right with this team.
  10. Hendry is an idiot. No, he isn't. There -- it's been settled. Ramirez is still unsigned.
  11. Brian Kinchen
  12. Sam Adams? Yuck!
  13. Why do you need a website when there's Mark May and Lou Holtz?
  14. I think Iowa was more bad than Wisconsin was good. Hawkeyes suck.
  15. that's the worst case scenario But he'll only play in 160 games.
  16. Adrian Beltre is not good, and his contract is even worse.
  17. False. How is it false? Other than they can buy an extra yacht or an extra vacation home or their own private jet? The ones making the most money are typically the most greedy. They are typically more likely to accept a $15M vs $10M deal than me choosing my $55K over a $60K offer on the other side of town. I've spent years around the mega rich (one of them Warren Buffet), and almost all are money grubbing tightwads who would trip their grandmothers to pick up a quarter off of the ground. It's why most of them are in that position.
  18. Who wants Mariners crap?
