  1. He's either being extremely overrated, or our farm is really crappy.
  2. If true, my guess is Murton's traded for pitching or becomes a 4th OF. Barf. Pass. Murton in 3 years is going to be better than Sori or Lugo in 3. Murton is already better than Lugo.
  3. DeRosa < Walker
  4. We are in no rush to offer abritration, as long as it is by the deadline. If team signs him today we can still offer arbitration and get the picks Isn't Pierre a type B free agent? If so, then the Cubs would get no compensation per the new labor agreement, right? We get a supplemental pick. The Giants don't have to give up anything. Thats the difference. I think. Teams that lose a Type B free agent will now earn a sandwich pick instead of taking selection from club that signed player. Link

  6. Quick, offer arby if someone's going to offer that much.
  7. Awesome. Now if they'd just limit Andy's air time.
  8. Hahaha, everybody hates GMJ.
  9. rotoworld or some such entity was quoted as saying the cubs were talking to cleveland about swapping relievers for Cliff Lee or Jake Westbrook. If the cubs could land a RF, trading Jones to Cleveland might makes sense as well - perhaps getting Jason Michaels in return UK? Thanks. I guess on the surface I'd prefer Lee for economic reasons, but his tendency for the longball makes me a titch nervous.
  10. Well, I wouldn't call what he did in 2004 "playing".
  11. Geez, 4.5M? I think that's a pretty good deal for the D-Rays.
  12. What rumors? Pardon me, I've been away for a few hours.
  13. I think he's just a slightly older version of Theriot. Had he signed a 3/3 deal, that's not a big deal. 3/13 is steep for what he's done over the course of his career.
  14. Depends on the pricetag and whether we'll see the 2006 DeRosa or the 2004 version.
  15. wouldn't an era+ of 90-110 make him an average 3rd starter rather than an acceptable 5th starter? I certainly would not include anybody at a 90 ERA+ as an average 3rd starter. is 100 not league average? Yes, and a 90 would put your 3rd starter below league average. That's not a desirable predicament.
  16. Amen. So when (not if) Kerry becomes the regular closer, what should his entrance music be? Gagne had "Welcome to the Jungle", Hoffman has "Hell's Bells" ... how bout that old UFO song "Lights Out" for Kerry. I could personally do without the pomp and circumstance and stick to the organ. His song should be the thing they play right before everyone yells "charge". Chopsticks would be kinda cool too.
  17. Motion to strike the word "plausible" from the original post. Glendon will not be traded. His career is probably over. If Barrett is dealt, we had better be upgrading more than just Burrell. Barrett and Jacque is far more appealing in the lineup than Burrell and Blanco. Lugo at ~8 is absurd. He's a 31 year old average ballplayer. Erstad is horrible. It's actually been a few years since he's been as good as mediocre.
