  1. I can't remember if they put her at 60'6" or not, but I know they had a little competition to see how she could do against a major league hitter a few years ago. Richie Sexon got the chance to try to hit about 20 pitches from her. I think he made contact with 2 or 3 of them and generally looked awful at the plate. She wasn't throwing from 60'6. It was from softball distance. and he strikes out a lot anyway If she were to throw a baseball from 60'6", my guess is a fastball that tops out around 80 with little movement. They have as many pitches as MLB pitcher does, the drop ball and curves along with change-ups. Yes, they do because it took them years to perfect them. If Jennif Finch tried throwing a baseball the same way she throws a softball, she's not going to have the same results.
  2. There is very little doubt in my mind that this is the Brewer's division for the next several years. The Brewers were the popular pick for this year. The Cubs have a solid mix of vets and kids and should be competitive for a few more years with this team. With their prospects and a big budget, there is no reason they can't continue to be competitive for the forseeable future. A lot also hinges on the new owners and any management/philosophy changes. It's a likely scenario that Cubs spending keeps pace with the talent of Milwaukee's youth until they start losing guys like Fielder and Braun to the AL.
  3. I don't care either way -- I think the Phils would've survived either
  4. Andy Marte Thanks Bob...he was a top prospect wasn't he? Maybe they didn't buy low. yes, he's with Cleveland now and not doing so hot, but he's still only 23.
  5. order a pizza and tell her the Cubs are more important, seems flawless to me. Uh oh !! My wife's birthday is coming up in a couple of weeks. Where's that playoff schedule ??? who cares, you can always get a new wife -- what are the odds the Cubs will make the playoffs again?
  6. Joe has an anti-Chicago thing working for him, that's probably why you don't think he's that bad.

Would a male with greater leg strength and arm velocity be able to hit the 90's then? I would say yes. I've faced male softball pitchers who had no problems reaching 75-80.
  8. Cubs, the WC never gets HFA unless their league were to win the ASG and they make it to the WS FBI, CIA, NSA, KGB

  10. I'll take Chip over Joe I'll take Chip over Stockton. Dick Stockton is brutal. every time I hear Stockton's voice I think Bears and Lions for some reason
  11. you probably read that here when it happened, I know it was talked about
  12. this should be a short thread if it stays on topic
  13. Ideally the Cobs won't lose another, but they'll get swept by the D'Backs
  14. Maybe Steve Buhr should drop Mediacom and get DirecTV with the sports package if he wants to watch his precious Twins, but yeah, I agree completely that the blackout rules are ridiculous.
  15. I TOLD YOU THEY CHEAT!!!! They did turn themselves in. I wonder what this freshmen eligibility rule is? players aren't eligible if they accepted $200k from a booster I knew they made a lot at Michigan, but $200k? Wow, how much to the kids at Penn State get?
  16. Why is Jordan getting so many touches? Give it to Laducer or Ronan dammit!
  17. there should be a free preview weekend, a la Showtime
  18. This is pretty much the conclusion I've reached as well. I haven't read all of this thread, but how have we faired against Webb this year? Being the Cubs like to swing at the first pitch, we should do OK against him -- at least that's my thinking. we beat him, but he went 7 innings, giving up 5 hits, a walk, 3 runs (2 earned), and 4 Ks we tacked on 3 more off Lyon in the 8th and won 6-2
  19. then where the hell is Aramis supposed to bat when we get ARod? hmm, well Lee could bat 2nd with A-Rod 3rd. happy? only if Murton leads off
