  1. Furcal singles. Here comes the fun.
  2. I thought houston wasn't supposed to be able to score runs? Chalk it up to the Brewers poor middle relief tonight.
  3. A wild one has broken out at Minute Maid. Now it's 8 to 6 Houston.
  4. I think Payton used to run up hills carrying a railroad tie or something like that. Greg Maddux must be meeting Mike Harkey after the game for an M.C. Hammer concert. LOL, talk about retro
  5. No one's posting "Go Pirates" on cards Talk. Beat it
  6. He said he didn't use the juice until he went to the Yanks. He couldn't get on base for the Cubs.
  7. Absolutely. My #1 fear is that the Cubs are going to try and turn Pie into a leadoff hitter instead of an rbi-man. I fear for Corey Patterson part 2. Well, he's batting leadoff in AAA but it isn't hurting his production. Of course, it looks more like they will be keeping him in CF instead of grooming him for RF. Tribune
  8. He's been doing it for years and Sox management has been unhappy about it. I guess they finally put the hammer down. I understand the team's position; they don't want him getting injured and being forced to pay him for a problem not related to pitching. As a side note, he's certainly an idiot! He runs his mouth too much and among his many infractions, he tried to intimate that Maddux was cheating.
  9. Yeah, but he didn't feel it because of all that armor.
  10. Maybe he'll be out for tomorrow's game (but otherwise OK).
  11. If he plays long enough, he'll break Reggie Jackson's all time strikeout record. Doesn't that record belong to Sosa now? I know he was nearing the record. Nope. So-So was still 400 behind. Is Sosa second on the all-time list? Yeah. 2,194 K's Thanks

  14. Yea but Weathers has sucked for the majority of the last few seasons. Like I said, when David Weathers is your closer you know you are in trouble. There's no doubt about it. His suckiness caught up with him.
  15. I'm not sure what's strange; he was ineffective and as a result, sent down. It's not like he's a guy with a long track record to fall back on. Perhaps if the Cubs rotation was solid they could afford for him to find himself on the 25 man roster but, as it stands, they can ill afford to keep him around. Wuertz had one bad outing, that doesn't make him ineffective. People are getting hung up over his meaningless spring numbers and forgetting that he was an effective reliever with peripherals pointing towards him being even better this year. Like I said, he doesn't have a long track record of success. Guys in his position are subjected to the "what have you done for me lately" treatment. As long as he is unproven, and has options, he will have to pitch well to stay in the MLs. Also, even though he wasn't charged with ER in his first 2 appearances he allowed inherited runners to score. Baker tried to allow him to come into, what should have been, a blow out to regain his confidence and all he did was make the game closer. If he's worthy he'll be back...
  16. Weathers had a 1.93 ERA in 4.2 IP leading up to that blown save. It's for the best; the sooner the Reds pitching staff learns that they are bad, the better for the rest of the division.

  18. Great move, I just hope Dusty doesnt let him rot out there. Let the kid pitch, dont let him jsut sit for 7-8 days then bring him in. Good luck David! He'll play right away. Gotta give Howry and Eyre some rest! Good to see Novoa hold his own today. 7-4 so far. A lot better then I thought they'd be at this point the season. I was just hoping and praying for .500! Keep it up guys! I wouldnt be so sure about that. Dusty likes to ride the hot hand in the bullpen. Just look at Weurtz, he sat out there for long stretches already, and then gets brought in and stinks up the joint. Not saying its all Dustys fault for Weurtz performance, but not pitching regularly is not a good thing with bullpen guys. Dusty did the same thing to Welly last year letting him sit for 12 days or so, then bring him in, and go figure he was wild. Weurtz sat because Dusty didn't have a lot of confidence in him. If Wuertz had been effective during ST and in his earlier appearances, he would have seen more action and perhaps been given the benefit of the doubt when he struggled during the season. Dusty didn't have a lot of confidence as well as all of Cubbie Nation. I have no problem with Weurtz being sent down. I wasn't high on him going north with the team after his horrible Spring. Dusty gave him the benefit of the doubt.
  19. The only good thing about that is it give the Cubs the lead in the division (yeah, I know it's early).
