  1. There maybe something to the idea that he didn't warm up completely (for whatever reason). Barrett said he noticed that Wood's velocity was down. Also, BBT said that Kerry was throwing 87-92 mph which is why he was getting rocked. We all know his mph should be in the mid to high 90s. Rothschild and others also noticed the change and that's why they visted the mound when there appeared to be no visible problem: http://chicago.cubs.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/news/article.jsp?ymd=20050720&content_id=1139031&vkey=news_chc&fext=.jsp&c_id=chc
  2. i for one am glad people are not overreacting LOL, exactly.
  3. This same scenario has played out too many times w/ this guy. Odds are 2/5 that Wood won't be pitching by next week. If Wood was a horse, I wouldn't even place him in my superfecta. Perhaps this is harsh, but dude makes $10 million a year. Seems like he's too lazy intellectually to fix his problem. I hope one of Hendry's main reasons in signing Maddux wasn't to straighten out Wood. Whether or not Wood's tenure as a Cub is coming to a close, I disagree with your assesment that he is 'too lazy intellectually.' This matter has nothing to do with intellect it is a physical problem that he has repeatedly tried to address. In the end, it might be that his body can nolonger withstand the rigors of pitching every 5th day or, it could be that he just needs to get accustomed to having stiffness after a few starts... Whatever the case, I doubt Wood is causing or prolonging the problems due to a refusal to change.
  4. If Wood is hurt for an extended period, which is speculation at this point, the Cubs will have to make due. I realize this is a discussion board but some people push the panic button too soon. Obviously, trading him at this point isnt an option, all we can do is hope he is healthy enough to make some starts... As I was looking around the net I found a little ode to this thread: http://forums.stltoday.com/viewtopic.php?t=271177
  5. As many of you already know, Derrek Lee's homer tonight helped to win a happy fan $10,000 in MLB's Beat the Streak Game. http://mlb.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/news/article.jsp?ymd=20050720&content_id=1138124&vkey=news_mlb&fext=.jsp&c_id=mlb
  6. Glendon was terrible. We should be out of this inning if he could have fielded his position.
  7. Rusch!
  8. I respect your opinion but this is a game thread is it possible to discontinue this debate or move it to baseball discussions? Thanks

  11. Relax, the Cubs have time to mount an offensive attack and Kerry can settle down. He needs quick outs. 3-0 No more runs please
  12. WOW, this isn't going well so far.
  13. Not really sure. The ump checked out the mound. Mabe he thought the pitcher didnt make contact with the rubber before delivering the pitch. Len and Bob are puzzledas well.
  14. 28 pitch first inning for Kerry. He will need to be mre efficient.
  15. FYI, If D Lee hits a homer tonight someone will win 10 K http://mlb.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/news/article.jsp?ymd=20050720&content_id=1138124&vkey=news_mlb&fext=.jsp&c_id=mlb
  16. OK, bare with me for a second... All these trade talk have me thinking. Maybe we are getting a new LF soon and the Cubs want to get Burny acclimated to CF. Just a thought... I think I beat you to that one... Ah! I missed your post. A new Left Fielder may be coming soon!

  18. Looks like he wanted the all lefthanded outfield tonight. JHJ has been slumping a little lately (so has Burnitz) but Burny has more power potential so I think that may have had something to do with the decision.
